He was born in Yerkes, [Perry County] Kentucky, at his parents home on January 22, 1922. He is the son of Willie D. Campbell and Doshia Alice (Wooton) Campbell. He married the “bride of the month”, Roberta Jean (Reed) Troupe at First United Methodist Church on August 28, 1949. They had two children, Steven M. Campbell and Carol A. (Campbell) Cummins. He married Janice (Knaus) Williams on January 2, 1964. She had two children from a previous marriage, Michael and Dennis Williams, which he dearly loved and raised as his own. She preceded him in death in October 1989. As a boy, he attended the Grassy Branch Primary School where he excelled in baseball and rock throwing with his brothers. As a young man, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October 1942. He was a tail gunner on a B-52 bomber crew, which flew 50+ successful missions over North Africa and the European Front during World War II. He received an Honorable Discharge in September 1945 at the rank of Staff Sergeant with numerous medals, ribbons and commendations, too numerous to list. For over 50 years he was a carpenter and general contractor in Hamilton, Ohio and Southeastern Indiana. He was a master carpenter, well known for his expertise in his work. He was also a mentor, passing his trade on to his son, Steven and grandson, Jason. He retired in 1998. He was a master storyteller who loved a good laugh or a joke. He was a gentleman farmer as well as a grocery and gas station owner in the Aurora, Indiana area. He greatly enjoyed his farm and had a deep passion for fishing and boating. Red made many trips to fish for salmon with his great friend Allan Chadwick. The two often took a local Boy Scout Troop with them on these trips. He was very active with his fellow servicemen, attending his squadron’s annual reunions faithfully. Red was a Mason and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1069, in Fairfield, Ohio. He was a loving and giving father as well as a hero, in war and peace. He had bravery un-paralleled by any, once saving an entire family in Indiana during a tornado by leading them to the safety of a storm cellar through rain, sleet and flying debris. He was an honest man, whose word was his bond. He believed sincerely in family and country. He leaves one brother, Raleigh Campbell and his wife, Gaybe of Cartyhage, Tennessee; three sisters, Molly Bowman and her husband Charles of Hamilton, Ohio, Merlene Sullivan of Whiteville, North Carolina and Mildred Baker of Busy, Kentucky. He also leaves his grandchildren, Ronald Wayne Cummins and his wife Lynnette, Jason Matthew Cummins and wife “Beta” and Ryan Perry Cummins and wife Melissa; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Wayne Cummins and Cami Leigh Cummins and one on the way So’phia Guedes Cummins from Jason and Beta. He leaves five step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, all of which hold him in high esteem. His parents, two brothers, Paul and Earl E. Campbell Sr. and one sister, Blanche Bowling preceded him in death. He was a wonderful friend, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. WE SALUTE YOU! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nBB.2ACI/2842 Message Board Post: Last Chance for Kentucky Death Certificate CD. I am putting the finishing touches on the Kentucky Death Certificate CD and it is set to be mailed out by Feb 7, 2004. There is still time to get involved though. If you have Death Certificates with a KENTUCKY connection, born, died or lived any part of their lives in Kentucky and would like to be a part of this project. E-mail your scanned JPEG death certificates to me at foe3643@mac.com The cost for the CD is $2.00 per CD (not death certificate) this will cover shipping and handling and the cost of the CD. The only stipulation is that you MUST donate atleast one death certificate to the project. However, the more each of us donate the larger the project will be. As of Feb 1, 2004 I currently have 1,800 death certificates that will be included on the CD. If this project proves to be a success I hope to continue it and put out one CD every six months or until there is no more interest in the Death Certificates. Anyone needing more information please feel free to e-mail me at the above address. And don't forget to drop by Tombstone Central: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~foe3643/ Cassy Sommers

Please read below. ********************************************************** RootsWeb has undergone significant modifications to its domain name lookup and IP addresses, and from their perspective this looks to have happened without incident. However, there may be consequences external to RootsWeb's network. IP addresses are the underlying methodology that computers use to identify and talk to each other on the internet. While most ISPs will only store (cache) RootsWeb's IP addresses for short periods, some ISPs may retain RootsWeb old details for an extended period. With regard to e-mail, it is also possible that e-mail to and from RootsWeb may be delayed until the changes have spread (propagated) through the internet. Also, where RootsWeb has had some mailing list servers placed on a whitelist with ISPs, these arrangements may need to be renewed, with the consequence being that Rootsweb may not be able to deliver e-mail to all ISPs at this time. AOL has been bouncing all mail from the lists (now why am I NOT surprised?) As of a.m. 29 Jan 2004 AOL is an on-going problem! And yes, Rootsweb HAS been in contact with AOL!  You know the "old saw" about molasses in January? Thanks for your attention! Pat Mount List Admin

    3. Below is a message that came through on my Reynolds list. It appears that AOL is doing this blocking to all Rootsweb email. It is possible for them to exclude Rootsweb from their 'spam list'. I suggest that everyone who uses Rootsweb the way we do CHANGE THEIR ISP. I use Earthlink and have no problem. Maybe if there were a mass cancellation AOL would get their act together. Phyllis Reynolds Goelz -----Original Message----- From: Bob Reynolds [mailto:chevman@northstate.net] Sent: Friday, January 30, 2004 7:20 AM To: REYNOLDS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Reynolds] AOL blocking Rootsweb mail Hi, I had same problem a few months ago with my ISP. It was not AOL but northstate telephone company. They installed spam blockers and it blocked rootsweb. I had to talk to several people at telephone company but finally got to right one, one of the vice presidents. He put me on a 3 way phone call with him and me and the software company that designed spam blocking software. All they had to do was change some of the blocking wording to allow rootsweb through. Have not had any problems since. I realize from past experience that getting AOL to do this will be a lot harder but it can be done. If they won't cooperate you might want to consider switching to another ISP that cares more about its customers. My ISP was not aware this problem existed till I called them, but then they went to work and got it fixed. Good Luck, Bobby Reynolds RENWALK@aol.com wrote: > Hi All, > > As some of you know AOL is blocking the mail from Rootsweb to most of us that have AOL as an ISP.
