Hi Again All Let me say that Carter did a great job on these and I agree. JimBob Jeremiah "Short Jerry" Combs Hi Lynda While going through the 1870 Perry Co Census, I may have found an error in the annotation of Jeremiah Combs #157 of the Hazard Pct. According to the comments I have probably from Debi, this Jeremiah was the son of Moses Combs and not Jeremiah "Chunky Jerry". Apparently William O'Connor got confused on the two. See the comment below. P S To everyone: Don't forget to back up all that good data that you have accumulated over the last 30 days. Carter Notes: Jeremiah Combs m Mary "Polly" FELTNER (Mary FELCKNER per 1858 Perry Co KY record of birth of their daughter, Martha Combs). The principal cause of death: Senility & Pneumonia Signed M. F. Kelley, M.D. Address Hindman Ky From: Louise Gaskill <pgaskill@juno.com> To: grogers@infinet.com Neevie, I believe this is Jeremiah "Tight Jerry" Combs!!!! Now bear with me here Neevie, and I'll explain how I came to think this! I calculate that he was born ca 1835 [Tight Jerry was born Aug 01, 1831 and his parents were: Jeremiah "Chunky Jerry" Combs & Matilda Combs] The death certificate says that his father was Jarry/Jany Comb, Sr. and Mag or May Walter, I think that it is Walter and when the writer crossed the "T" he got off and put it over the "E". The writer was continually off when he crossed "T's" on the entire death certificate. Also if you look at how "Perry Co. is written it looks like an "N" instead of double "r's" Are you still with me? Also, if you look at the informants name where he wrote "John", he defineatly carried the "J" over the top to form the "o" in John. So, I am assuming that he was not writing an "o" after the "J" in Jarry/Jerry Combs, he was either forming an a or an e. Speaking of the informant: His son John Lorenzo Combs did not die until 1957, so if this is Tight Jerry, then the informant would most likely be him. My enumerator for the precincts in the 1920 Knott census that I transcribed made his "R's" just like this guy did, I bet it's the same guy [M.F. Kelley]!, they look like "S's". He almost formed the same kind of "R" when he wrote Jeremiah at the top of the certificate.
I had this Jeremiah as s/o Jeremiah Chunky Jerry and Sarah Sally Grigsby but I detached him because he just didn't fit. But I do think he is the son of Jeremiah and Matilda ???.
