The subject of not being able to rely on the info in official records 100% came up earlier, your right you can't. It says that Dicy was b. 1874 in Knott Co and that this was a delayed death certificate filed in 1944, well whomever gave the info didn't realize that Knott Co didn't exist when Dicy was born. Hello everyone from SC, I need to give a big thank you to my cousin, J. P. Downard. When I retired and got reconnected with him, he told me I needed to get involved with genealogy, and it was through his insistance, guidance and direction that he introduced me to my "roots". He has never lost patience with me but listened as I told him over and over again of my boo-boos and then he worked with me to correct my mistakes. He helped me maintain confidence in what I was doing. I know I have aggravated him to death, but he is still there for me, and he has shared so many research notes, pushing me forward when I get disgusted and want to quit. I have learned so much through his efforts, and it opened up a whole new world of "ancestors" to me. A BIG THANK YOU TO JULIAN, AND TO LYNDA, JIM BOB AND ALL THE OTHERS OUT THERE WHO TIRELESSLY GIVE OF THEIR TIME TO BRING TO THE REST OF US "OUR ROOTS". He was born on Feb. 22, 1944, in Perry County, Ky., and was a lifelong Middletown resident. Mr. Riley was a self-employed painter for 27 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Shiloh Candle Stick Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Haney (Cornett) Riley; a daughter, Gladys Yvonne Riley; and a brother, Rodney Gene Riley. Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda (Chris) Zulock and Kathy Reichenbach, both of Middletown; four sons, James (Leann) Riley of Brookville, Ind., Bill (Teresa) Riley of Middletown, Tony (Jennifer) Riley of Brookville, Ind., and Kyle Riley of Middletown; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest (Bev) Riley of Gratis, Ohio, Robert (Lillian) Riley of Middletown, and John A. (Donna) Riley of Germantown, Ohio; a sister, Mary Sue (Allen) Hamilton of Middletown; special friend, Charlene Reynolds of Middletown; and numerous nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, 1500 Manchester Ave., Middletown. Pastor Charlene Allen will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
