Surnames: Browning Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nBB.2ACI/2901 Message Board Post: June 13, 2004 Journal News, Hamilton, Ohio Ruth Browning Hamilton woman active into her 90s HAMILTON — Ruth Browning enjoyed driving her friends to the store until she was 92 years old. “She’d say, ‘I have to take the old ladies to the store today’ and they were all 20 years younger than her,” said her great-granddaughter, Danette Sutten, whom Browning raised since the age of four. Browning, 95, of Hamilton, died Friday at her residence. She was born Sept. 4, 1908 in Hazard, Ky., to Jesse and Laura Penninton. She was one of 13 children. On April 2, 1943, she married William McKinley Browning in Hyden, Ky. He preceded her in death in 1973. Browning enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking, Sutten said. “She made the best biscuits and gravy in the world,” she said. Browning is survived by her daughter, Betty Simpson of Hamilton; six grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. There were even some great-great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation is 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born in Hazard, Kentucky in 1925 as a child of the Combs family, the youngest of 6 children. In 1945, she married William Wallace Watkins. Together they made a wonderful life in Fresno, California raising their three chidlren, John Stewart, Carol Ann and William David. Several years after her husband of 45 years passed into his heavenly reward in 1990, she married Orville Wallace. Together they made their home in Yucaipa, California, living out the rest of their days on this side of heaven. Margaret's life was marked by her deep, sacrificial love for her family, friends, and especially her Lord. She is survived by her three children, as well as by numerous grandchildren and great-granchildren. On Monday, June 14, at 2 p.m., a memorial service will be held at graveside at Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside (CA). There family and friends will honor the woman they loved and cherished and will one day see again. NOTE: Submitter is not related in any way to deceased.
