I am looking for where my grandparents were married. Joseph Lemuel Poore Jr. (b. 12/29/1901 d. 3/16/1975) married Zoe Irene Webster (B. 11/9/1903 d. 4/13/2004) on July 2nd, 1924. The last known residence I have for Zoe was in the 1920 federal census she was living with her grandmother, Nancy E. Benton (maiden unknown). Her uncle, Frances (Frank) Freeman Benton, his Wife Mary, and their kids, Porter, Clayton, Mary Frances, lived next door. Zoe's mother and father died before 1910. The last known residence I have for Joeseph was in the 1920 Davidson county, TN federal census. Joseph was living with his father Joseph Lemuel Sr., his mother, Jimmie Ella Poore (Hale), sister, Mary Linda, and brother Robert N. By May 1925, Zoe and Joeseph are living in Flint MI with a daughter. If someone could look them up and let me know if they were married in Perry Co I would appreciate it. This is my brother, who I will miss dearly. Published in the Richmond (Va) Times-Dispatch from 7/20/2004 - 7/21/2004. Dr. Allen E. Combs Dr. Allen E. Combs passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2004 at his home in Quinton. Allen was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a deep passion for life and an abundance of love for his family, friends and many patients. Allen's kindness, humor and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Allen was predeceased by his parents, Courtney Allen Combs and Gene Evans Speaks Combs. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, L. Faye Walden Combs; his wonderful daughter, who has her dad's sense of humor, Leslie A. Combs; his devoted son, who enjoyed many hockey games with his dad, Evan M. Combs and his wife, April; the apple of his eye and his special love, his granddaughter, McKenzie Scarlett Combs; his baby sister, Lynda Combs Gipson; his kind-hearted brother, Robert "Bobby" Combs; and Leslie and Evan's mother, Sandra Combs. Allen was born in Harlan, Ky., but lived most of his life in York County prior to moving to New Kent. He earned a B.S. from Eastern Kentucky University in 1965 and his M.D. from Wake Forest University's Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1968, serving his internship at the USAF Medical Center in Biloxi, Miss. in 1968-1969. Allen was a true patriot who loved, and proudly served, his country. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon for five years and attaining the rank of Major. He was decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation for valor in combat and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Allen served as an emergency room physician from 1972 to 1994 at Sentara Hampton General Hospital before moving to the Providence Forge area in 1995. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1992, and a chairman of the York County Republication Party. Allen was among the first board-certified emergency physicians in the country. In 1998, he joined the Chickahominy Family Practice of physicians, and was still practicing at the Providence Forge Medcare office at the time of his death. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA. where services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday.
