I have been using census records and making detailed notations of each scrap of information I obtain. My brick wall has been tracing my husband's ggrandfather: William NOBLE b. 1886 in Perry Co. and married Ada NOBLE b. 1882 in Perry Co. I very much appreciate whomever is putting the census records online. However, I wonder if someone out there would have the 1910 records and/or any additional information about this family. I want to find out who William's parents were and where they came from.Thank you in advance for any help you can give. 1920 Perry County Kentucky Census Upper & Lower Campbell Precinct #17 81-81 Noble Wm. 2. In a message dated 9/2/04 5:24:53 PM, LyndaCGKyCol@aol.com writes: << I have heard of George All Sizemore, wasn't he a Cherokee Indian?? Who was he married to? >> George All Sizemore was the progenitor of most of the Sizemore clan in southeast Kentucky. He and his wife Agnes Shepherd had children: 1 Maimey (md Henry Begley) 2 Winifred (md William Begley Sr.) 3 John "Rockhouse" (md Nancy Bowling) 4 Edward "Ned" (md Louanna Bolling, relationship with Martha Fields) 5 James (md Elizabeth Fields) 6 George "Golden Hawk" (md Sallie Anderson, Mary Ann Womack, relationship with Alethia Richardson) 7 Sally Ann (md Elisha "Eel" Couch) 8 Susan (md John E. Bolling I) 9 Ruth (md John Jones) 10 Rhoda (m -- Roberts and Joseph Wilder; also had other children out of wedlock) 11 Henry "Hunting Shirt" (md Rachel Jones) His descendants lived in Floyd & Clay County, and as new counties formed they were in most of the current day counties of the area, especially Clay, Leslie and Breathitt. There are lots of stories about the Indian ancestry of both George and Agnes, but no evidence, just legends. Thousands of his descendants applied for Cherokee benefits and were denied. To date, no one has proof of his ancestry, though there is a DNA study ongoing that is trying to answer some questions and relate the various groups of Sizemores in Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, etc. Jen indicated in her post that George All was Cherokee, but there is actually no "evidence" that this is so, just conjecture. You can see the DNA project information at this site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~craingen/SizemoreDNA.html and the results and pedigrees of participants at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~craingen/DNAindex.html The results show that about 2/3 of the participants have the DNA haplogroup Q or Q3, the groups associated with Native Americans. The other 1/3 have I, and R1b, groups associated with European populations. Of the latter, all whose pedigrees have been submitted, are from lineages originating in Virginia and North Carolina, except for one lone Perry County Sizemore, Wilkerson, who married Mahala "Haley" Bolling, daughter of John E. Bolling I and Susan Sizemore. I don't have any parents for Wilkerson Sizemore as yet, but maybe someone else does. As the DNA tests were done using the Y-chromosome information, the results indicate that the 24 Q and Q3 individuals had a common ancestor at some time in the past, perhaps as much as 15 generations previous. Some match up with likely much less generations back to a common ancestor. So our Native American ancestor was male, but may not have been the holder of the Sizemore surname, as indications are that the surname is of English origin. Much interesting and controversial information runs through the Sizemore maillist. Dona Ritchie

If you saw this DC you would understand why I said Zack instead of Jack. (it was a judgement call on my part) But after seeing what you are saying, I believe it is JACK. The "J" looks so much like a "Z" and I had a few Zachariahs is in my files so I assumed it was Zack. But now I think you are correct, it is Jack. Billie Ruth, THANK YOU so much for speaking out. I guess I double clicked on Franklin's parents and it took me to his grandparents. So Franklin's parents are actually Franklin Combs & Elizabeth Oliver. His grandparents were Henry Harrison Combs, Sr. and Rachel Clements. Sorry for that error. Lynda
