Second, glad to know that you found the same clues from the files as I did. I have to admit, reading those files was quite entertaining. Now, for my questions. Did I miss a clue as to where the maiden name of Cintha Bowlin came into the story? I did not catch the Jones surname for her. I did note that Stokley Bowlin's 2nd wife was a Jones and that he says that Wiley Jones is his grandfather, but I did not come up with the maiden name of his first wife, Cintha, as being Jones. Did you get that from some other records? Which census year is Cintha living with Wiley Jones? Thanks

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nBB.2ACI/2893.3.2.1 Message Board Post: Elton, everything you say is my conclusion but one thing. That Catherine Hoskins was originally a Jones. Katherine Jones daughter of Wiley Jones. Cynthia was living with Wiley Jones in a census and states she is grand daughter. So what we have here is a Katherine Jones having at least 2 children out of wedlock and two children with Thomas Hoskins which I believe they were never married as well. Many people have believed Katherine to be a Hoskins but these penions kinda say differnt.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hoskins Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nBB.2ACI/2893.3.2 Message Board Post: After studying those two pension applications, here are my summary conclusions as they apply to the family of Katherine Kate Hoskins. Would welcome any differing conclusions. Stokley Bowlin says that he and Eli Griffitts married sisters. (Stokley Bowlins pension application) The rest comes from Eli Griffitts pension application: Cintha Bowlin, spouse of Stokely Bowlin says that Eli Griffitts married her half sister (so we assume that Cintha Bowlin and Frankie Griffitts are half sisters). Eli Griffitts says that Thomas Hoskins is his father in law, John Hoskins is brother to Thomas, both deceased prior to 1890. Eli Griffitts says that Katy Hoskins is his mother in law and that she is living with Isaac Garrison. (Isaac Garrison married Nancy Hoskins, daughter of Kate Hoskins) Frankie Griffitts says that she was a Hoskins and married Eli Griffitts 4 Mar 1858 at the home of Thomas Hoskins Irvin Hoskins confirms that Frankie Hoskins married Eli Griffitts. Eli Griffitts says that John Hoskins and Thomas Hoskins were present when Andy Hoskins hit him with the rock. Frankie Hoskins Griffitts says that her Daddy and John Hoskins were present when Andy Hoskins threw the rock (implying that Thomas Hoskins is father of Frankie Hoskins Griffitts). John Hoskins, age 47 in 1890, says he is sister to Frankie Griffitts. That would make him about age 17 in 1860. The John Hoskins in the home of Katy Hoskins in 1860 is age 18. That looks like a match. Conclusions: Thomas Hoskins and Katherine “Kate” Hoskins are the parents of Frankie Hoskins Griffitts. The other children of Katherine Hoskins are Cintha Hoskins Bowlin (not found in the Thomas Hoskins & Eliza North family, so she must be a daughter of Katherine Hoskins), John Hoskins, & Nancy Hoskins, father of these latter three is unknown.

    1. Perry Co Stuff Page Update
    2. Hi Gang, Several of you have told me that you've been noticing that the website (kyroots.com) that "used" to house the 1870, 1880 and the 1920 Perry Co census is now gone. Jimmie moved them to Rootsweb a long time ago but some of you were still viewing them at the old url which has ceased to exist as of Oct 15th. So now you will have to go to the Perry Co Stuff page to see the censuses. Then you can bookmark them there if you like. Also I replaced the link to "Perry Ky Genealogy" with a new link.....this will now take you to the "new" Letcher County Stuff. I added a link to Brian Caudill's great Letcher Co site to that page, plus I added a brand new page.....tada!!!!..........drum roll....haha......Letcher Co COMBS marriages from 1901 to 1942. They married EVERYONE, remember. There are about 353 marriages, so have fun. Later I will add more surnames. If Brian is watching, I really meant it when I said your site is great!! And thank you for adding a link to the Perry Co Stuff page. Lynda http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyperry3/perrycokystuffpage.html

    1. Re: [KYPERRY-L] KY Death Certificate CD
    2. Cassy, After several attempts to your email and the list over the last year I just wanted to say that I never received my initial cd from the death certificates that I submitted from your first cd request. Payment was sent for this so it would have been nice to at least have received a response after I tried to contact you. Therefore, I will not be contributing anything else to this project. Very disappointed! Brenda Owens with Perry County roots foe3643@mac.com writes: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nBB.2ACI/2963 Message Board Post: I have finally gotten around to making My Kentucky Death Certificate CD number Two. Here are the rules and the changes for contributing and obtaining a CD. 1. you MUST submit atleast 5 death certificates to the project. I would prefer the Death Certificates to be hard copies mailed to me at my home address. The reason I am requesting hard copies is that I would like to donate them to the library here in town. However, if it isn't possible I know some people have them on their computer and not a hard copy. Then they must be sent to me as a JPEG and I HAVE TO know in ADVANCE before you send them so my inbox doesn't become over loaded. 2. The Death Certificate MUST have a Kentucky connection. 3. It was requested last time that there be some contact information on the Death Certificate. This is to difficult for me to do or to time consuming, but if you want to hand write your e-mail address on the Death Certificate this would be a great way to pass along the information in case someone sees a connection. 4. The price has gone up. Last time it actually cost me money to make the CD so this time the cost is $3.00 per CD. Yes, you can order more than one CD but remember there is a minimum of 5 Death Certificates per CD. The reason for the minimum is that I want to fill up the CD to make it more useful for all. Right now I have approximately 1,000 death certificates and the CD will hold about 2,000. The last CD contained 1,940 Death certificates. 5. Checks and DC's Can be mailed to me at Cassy Sommers 1407 Woodwind Ct Corbin, Kentucky 40701 6. There will be no exceptions this time the CD will go out by January 15th with or without the 2,000 DC's if we get that many before the 15th it will go out sooner. Hope all will join in and please feel free to pass this message around to anyone who has a Kentucky connection. Cassy.
