MARION: Monroe G. "Fed" Combs age 59, the Lord called him home Tuesday, October 4, 2011. He was born September 14, 1952 in Perry County, Vicco, KY, to the late Harrison "Bub" and Minnie (Smith) Combs Jr. he was one of 13 children. Monroe was employed as a machinist at Alloy Cast Steel for many years. He is survived by a daughter, Lana (Scott) Verrocchil of Marion; three sons, Danny R. (Gloria) Combs of Marion, Monroe G. (Wendy) Combs Jr. of Marion, Shawn Combs of Marion; grandchildren, Danny R. Pauline was born in Perry County the daughter of the late Homer Ashworth and the late Hanna Campbell Ashworth. Pauline was also preceded in death by her Daughter - Susan Ann Farler, Son - Michael Allen Combs, and by One Sister - Peggy Ratliff. Pauline was a life-long resident of Perry County, a Member of the Church of Christ and Enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Gorman Towers. Virginia Reynolds (December 29, 1930 - September 27, 2011) Virginia Neel Reynolds, age 80 of North Tazewell, VA died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home. Born December 29, 1930 in Gratton, VA, she was a daughter of the late Levi Walker Neel and Ethel Virginia Buchanan Neel. She was a member of the Riverside Community Church at North Tazewell, VA. Mrs. Reynolds was a retired cashier after working for many years with Deskins Supermarkets in Tazewell, VA. Her days were made more comfortable by the kind and compassionate staff of Legacy Hospice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert "Buddy" Neel and one granddaughter, Angela Reynolds. Jack was born in Perry County, the son of the late Nancy Ellen Stacy, and was also preceded in death by granddaughter Jessica Rose. He was a lifelong resident of Perry County and owner of Coomer's Grocery in Lothair for 18 years. He is survived by his wife, Alma Coomer of Lothair; daughters Jackie Coomer and Cathy Coomer Rose, both of Lothair; sisters Doris Combs of Jeff, Ethel Campbell of Jeff and Shelby Jean Grigsby of Winchester; granddaughter Paige Rose and great-grandson Jackson Blake Rose, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Omar Gillum Snyder (Ret.) passed peacefully on September 18 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born to Elsie Lolita Gillum Snyder and James Frederick Snyder on January 18, 1929, delivered by his grandfather and uncle, at the Hurst-Snyder Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky. He spent his early years in Hazard working at his father's ice house and Budweiser distributorship, delivering ice via pickup truck to rural Perry County. He also spent extended time in Jackson, Kentucky with a special grandmother, Maude Ewen Gillum, where he often attended school. After graduating from Hazard High School in 1947 and a brief stint at the University of Louisville, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 26 years. During this time he fulfilled numerous overseas commands, with two tours in Vietnam, and received multiple awards and commendations, including the Airman's Medal. Omar became an expert aircraft mechanic and squadron leader in the field of C-5s, C-130s and helicopters. He was also squadron leader for a team of rescue helicopters during tours in Vietnam. Subsequent to his Air Force career, he worked for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a gun enthusiast who over the years maintained his Expert Marksman status and was a member of the NRA. His other passions included fishing, restoring and collecting antique coffee mills and cast iron cookware. Omar is preceded in death by his only sibling, Charles Dana Snyder. He is survived by his children Frederick Raymond Snyder and wife Meg of Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico; Karen Snyder Nolen and husband Hunter of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren Robert Branham Snyder, Miranda Elizabeth Snyder, Marshall Hunter Nolen and Marina Katherine Nolen; a nephew and two nieces. He is also survived by Jean Snyder Bianchi of Somerset, Kentucky; Mary Ann Fitzpatrick Miller of Nicholsville, Kentucky, Ann Hobbs Quillen, Elizabeth Snyder Duncan, and B.J. Ewen of Hazard, Kentucky. Gussie Louise Ayres Combs (1940 - 2011) Gussie Louise Ayres Combs, age 71, of Morning View, died Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. She was a former Housekeeping Manager for Why Motel and a member of Morning View United Methodist Church. Mrs. Combs loved crocheting, playing bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren. He joined the U.S. Air Force and traveled extensively throughout the Far East and the United States, retiring as a MSGT after 20 years as an air traffic controller. After his military career, he worked as a window clerk and trainer for the U.S. Post Office at the downtown Panama City branch, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a longtime resident of Bay County and devoted member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Parker. In his early years, Wilmer enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, sudoku and his ministry work at his church. He enjoyed helping others and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Tera White of Callaway, his children, Diana Walker of Panama City, Fl. and Beckie Wilson and husband Lee of Dallas, Texas; brother James K. White and wife Helen of Hazard; sisters Faye Anderson and husband George and Gayle Muncy and husband Robert, all of Hazard; his cherished granddaughter, Miriah White, and a great-grandson, Yoshi Stewart, both of Panama City; special brother-in-law and coffee buddy, Gene Boles of Southport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
