An Enjoyable Day A most enjoyable day was spent at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Huffman, near Brooksville, Sunday, May 29th , it being Mr. Huffman̓s 62nd birthday anniversary. There were 26 guests for dinner and everything good to eat was on the table. Everyone enjoyed the feast and the games that were played in the afternoon. Vernon has 18 thoroughbred White Leghorn hens of the Tom Barnes strain, which have laid 1,200 eggs since February 15th. Mr. Holmes has sold most of these eggs for hatching and the eggs are hatching 92½ per cent, which is also a splendid record. Plunger Breaks The heavy plunger used in drilling the oil well near this city broke last Saturday, and has to be loaded on a truck and taken to Winchester for repairs. The well is now down 485 feet. I Neighboring Counties Bracken County News Wilbert and Gilbert about three weeks of age the twin sons of Mr. & Mrs. Albert Rudd, of Powersville, died within a week of each other. On Saturday May 14th, Mr. Clifford Cornelius and Miss Margaret Meier were married at the First English Lutheran church, Madison Ave. Covington. Mr. Riley Owens aged 69, died at his home on the Germantown pike last Thursday from heart trouble. Survived by wife, five sons and two daughters (Not named.) A very pretty wedding occurred last Wednesday, May 18th, at the Lutheran church, Locust Creek, when Rev. W. F. Frey of Arnheim, OH and Miss Minnie Bush of near Gertrude were united in holy bonds of matrimony by Rev. Lent; Lutheran minister of this place. R. B. Pumpelly, aged 75 years, died at his home in Mason County near Germantown, May 22nd, from heart trouble and other complications. His widow, three daughters and four sons survive him (not named). Deceased was the brother of A. D. Pumpelly of Augusta. William D. Lathem passed away at his home on Turtle Creek, May 21st from dropsy and other complications. Mr. Lathem was a son of the late Robert Latham, was born and spent his entire life in the house in which he died. He was 73 years old on Dec 24th, 1920. (Bud) Adams died at home of his brother, C. C. Adams, on North Main street, Williamstown, May 26 after a lingering illness of several months from a affliction of the heart and circulatory organs. News of the death of Jeff D. Admas well known farmer of the Fairview neighborhood which reached here Monday was a distinct shock to the many friends here few of whom knew that he was ill. Mr. Adams left two weeks ago for Erlanger to attend the funeral of his uncle, Geo. Ashcraft and was apparently in the best of health. After the funeral he went to the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. Arstenstall, at Hazlewood, OH and was at this place that he became severely ill. He was removed to Deaconess Hospital Cincinnati where an operation was performed and later a second operation. Hatfield, 26, farmer of Winchester and Miss Sallie Curtis, 22, Harrison Co. William Lewis Skinner, 29, son of W. L. Skinner and Miss Mary Ellen Berry, 27, daughter of Fes Berry were married by Rev. George Ammerman Thursday. Mrs. Jennie Moses, wife of James Moses, Formerly of Cynthiana was found dead in bed Sunday at their home on Lebus farm, Russell Cave and Iron Works pike in Fayette County. Robert N. Whalen, farmer, died at Sunrise, May 22nd. He was a son of Squire and Cynthia Whalen and was born August 24, 1865. His wife, who was a Miss Humphreys has been dead for fifteen years. One son survives, Lester Whalen. Bennie M. Vance, farmer, died at the Harrison Memorial Hospital Wednesday of typhoid fever, after two weeks illness. He was a son of Joseph and Lutie Vance and was born May 1, 1889. His wife, formerly Miss Lena Rogers whom he married in 1915 died May I. Thee small children survive (not named). Mr. Phillips was one of the first boys to go to France during the World War and served his country until the armistice was signed. He was reared by Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Cummins of Foster. Burlew, which occurred at her home last Thursday night has cast a gloom of sadness over the entire community. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral services at the church Sunday morning.
