My parents,1901-94 and 1898-2000 used to tell me of President Coolege's son 's [unnessary?] death. They were trying to train the athletic me to watch small injuries to my feet. They said he had a blister on his foot, and they alwas mentioned colored socks, and how 1 drop of alcohol at the right time,or a wound dressing, would have saved his life. He,and their 1st 40+ years was before antibiotocs. Dad got pneumonia the 1945-46 winter, and his cousin, old Dr Davison, had us switch to Mom's cousin, young Dr Charles Simmons, who had just been trained in antibiotics.Dec 1945. Yet today,I walk a lot on the berm of Ohio Rt 125,and wearclean, white socks, and nightly inspect my feet.
