    3. On April 17 Mary Littleton asked for information proving that Robert Barnhill (1790-1872) was the father of Samuel Barnhill (1820-1889). I have seen a deed with this information; see below. I am interested in Robert Barnhill’s son, Robert Barnhill Jr., who married Nancy Shoemaker (daughter of Benjamin Shoemaker and Catherine Ellis Young, widow of Henry Young and mother of Samuel Lockwood Young all of Pendleton County.) Besides the Young family I am also interested in Catherine Ellis’ father William Ellis (b. ca. 1780, Revolutionary war veteran). There is a deed (Family History Library film # US/CAN 1843014) in Deed Book V, page 289 that shows 34 acres on Ash Run Creek in Pendleton Co sold by Robert and Nancy (Shoemaker) Barnhill for $1360 to Nancy’s ½-brother Samuel Young. There is also a deed (FHL film # US/CAN 1843014) in Deed Book V, page 290-291, showing land on Gibson Creek being transferred on 12 Jul 1871 from Samuel and Nancy Barnhill of Pendleton Co to Nancy Barnhill which mentions “all of the interest the said Samuel Barnhill has in his father’s estate… originally received by deed by Robert Barnhill…” who originally acquired the land from William Ellis. (Note that William Ellis is the father of Catherine Ellis Shoemaker). I would be interested in all of the information you have on these families. Thank you! Vicki Young Albu
