Falmouth Outlook Volume 13 Number 39 5 Mar 1920 Pg. 4 Col. 5 Letter from Indiana John W. Smith, formerly of near Antioch Mills, but now of Hartsville, IN. "... Especially do I enjoy recalling the scenes and incidents of my boyhood days in and around old Antioch, as it was first called. When the post office was established it became necessary to change the name, so it became Antioch Mills, which name was legitimate and appropriate, because of the old grist mill that stood west of the church across the creek. There was the old log schoolhouse, which I think was earlier been the church or meeting house. ..." "Among the families represented in the school were the Woolerys, Brannocks, Cummins, Simpsons, Whitakers, Nesbits, Sellers, Blades and others." "Faces and forms of some of the older teachers pass in panoramas before memory's vision such as John W. Bristow, Rufus Masonry, Haviland Weeks, Joseph Norris, _.W. Wright, T.J. Smith and later the Rev. J. W. B. Smith. All of these teachers, except perhaps the latte, resorted frequently to the use of the switch to impress on our minds the importance of right conduct and diligent application of our minds to our books. I can almost feel the sting of the switch on my back yet. "I note in your news columns that the church at Antioch Mills has been remodeled and that they how have a fine up-to-date church. It is very gratifying to know that interest in the church is still at high tide. I remember at one time when the Antioch S.S. under the leadership of Supt. Z. M. Kennedy, who died at Indianapolis a few years ago, was the banner S.S. in Harrison Co in interest and attendance. ..." J. W.
