Miss Geybeek is a daughter of the late Mr. Geysbeek who formerly resided in Falmouth and conducted the creamery in Oldhamtown. The men folk will now have to get a hump on themselves, as women are entering all professions and endeavors of life, and in time will become sharp competitors in the business world. Residence The Anchor Wrecking Co. is tearing down the old brick residence on the east side of Main Street near the Outlook. This residence was erected by the late Dr. James Wilson, grandfather of Dr. J. E. Wilson, of this city, in 1842, and was one of the first brick houses built in Falmouth. . . . the material that went into this house was secured in the vicinity of this city. The brick were made here and all the lumber that went into the house was either hewed out or sawed by hand. The timbers, sleepers and rafters are all put together with wooden pins and display fine workmanship. What few nails were used are hand made and gorged out in a blacksmith shop. Dr. James Wilson was the first graduate physician to practice in Falmouth. Before that time “herb doctors” and “granny doctors” were the only medical assistance available. Dr. Wilson graduated from medical college some time in 1820 and later on built this house where he lived and practiced medicine until he died. The late Dr. J. H. Barbour, who practiced medicine in Falmouth for over 60 years started his career in this brick house under Dr. Wilson and later married a girl who lived across the street, daughter of attorney Samuel Hauser. This old brick residence has served its purpose and if its walls could speak much interesting early history could be revealed. We do not suppose that there is a person now living here who was here when this house was built. Dr. Wilson was a native of this place and his father was also born four miles up Licking River near Wagoner’s Ferry. This it will be seen that the Wilson family were among the first to settle here. They came from Virginia. Dr. Wilson reared a large family of children in this residence, all of whom except one have passed over the great divide. Among the children were Dr. John Wilson, who practiced many years at Williamstown, Capt. J. M. Wilson, W. E. Pickett and Mrs. Geo. Rule. L. N. Wilson, now of Florida is the only child living. W. E. Bishop, owner of this property, will erect a business house on the site.
