I am very interested in anyone associated with these families of Mentor, Flag Springs, of Campbell County and their families which cross over into Pendleton County, especially Peach Grove and the Second Twelve Mile Church there. BEAGLE, BEALL, SPILMAN, KENNEDY, KING, WM THOMPSON , Fergis GERMAN, BOYERS and many more from 1798 onward. Wm Thompson: arrived in Flag Springs (Well's Creek) had 1000 Acre Patent 1785 Wm Kennedy arrived in Flag Springs area as well before 1800, was large landowner. Benjamin Beall: pioneer in the area and large landowner. Thomas Beagle: arrived from Mason County by 1807 in Court Records All of these families had intermarriages and some had family members on the Pendleton County side. Many are buried in the Peach Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Flag Springs Baptist Church was originated in 1833 with a 1 acre land donation from Wm Thompson's 1000 acre patent. A large group under Fergis German (son-in-law of Wm Thompson) started the Peach Grove or Second Twelve Mile Baptist Chruch in the 1840's. They were sent with the blessings of the Flag Springs Baptist Church not far from the Pendleton County border. THOMPSON, BEAGLE, are my husband's direct lines. I would love to correspond with anyone who is associated with any of these families. Thanks in advance. I have a large computer data base as well. Will do look-ups. Karen Beagle from Seattle, WA (have been to this area 3 years ago)

Falmouth Outlook Volume 14 Number 18 8 Oct 1920 Pg. 1 Col. 2 The New Fair Company Jasper Cummins has leased the grounds to a company of wide-awake and experienced men for five years with the privilege of ten. The eleven members of the new fair company are A.H. Barker, Jasper Cummins, J.C. Browning, Alvin Courtney, Joshua Woodhead, Jason Shoemanker, B.F. Arnold, J.L. Rogers, James W. Coleman, James Monroe and Tom Bradford. Falmouth's Population The U.S. Census Department at Washington D.C. has just issued the 1920 census for Falmouth and Pendleton Co. It gives this city a population of 1,330. which is satisfactory to all. This is a gain of 150 in ten years. This is very small, but is accounted for from the fact that many of our citizens have built new homes outside the city limits. The population of the city and suburbs will total 1,800. Butler did not make a bad showing. Her population is given as 406, or a loss in the past ten years of 20. The county's population is given as 11,719 which is a loss of 226 in ten years. Pendleton has 1,000 more population than either Grant or Bracken Counties. Falmouth Outlook Volume 14 Number 18 8 Oct 1920 Pg. 1 Col. 3 Deaths Readnower, W.T. 81y 1m 26d b. Pendleton Co. Following was preceded my massacre of 91 Christian Indians in e Ohio in spring,1782, and then the defeat of Col Wm Crawford's army at Upper Sandusky in mid 1782. Butler's Rangers & Indian Department Capt. Caldwell's Report Extract of a Letter from Capt. CALDWELL, dated at Wakitamiki August 26th, 1782 When I last had the pleasure of writing you I expected to have struck at Wheeling as I was on my march for that place, but was overtaken by a messenger from the Shawnese, who informed me the Enemy was on their march for their Country, which obliged me to turn their way, and to my great mortification found the Alarm false and that it was owing to a Gondalo coming up to the mouth of Licking Creek, and landing some men upon the South side of the Ohio, which when the Indians saw, supposed it must be Clark. It would have been a lucky circumstance if they had come on, as I had Eleven hundred Indians on the ground, and three hundred within a days march of me. When the Report was contradicted They mostly left us, many of them had left their Towns no ways equiped for War, as they expected as well as myself to fight in a few days, notwithstanding I was determined to pay the Enemy a visit with as many Indians as would follow me: accordingly I crossed the Ohio with three Hundred Indians and Rangers, and marched for Bryants Station on Kentuck, and surrounded the Fort the 15th in the morning, and tried to draw em out by sending up a small Party to try to take a Prisoner and Shew themselves, but the Indians were in too great a hurry and the whole shewed to[o] soon. I then saw it was in vain to wait any longer and so drew nigh the Fort, burnt 3 Houses which was part of the Fort but the Wind being contrary prevented it having the desired effect, killd upwards of 300 Hogs, 150 head of Cattle, and a number of Sheep, took a number of Horses, pulld up and destroyed their Potatoes, cut down a great deal of their Corn, burnt their Hemp and did other considerable damage by the Indians exposing themselves too much we had 5 Killed and 2 wounded. We retreated the 16th and came as far as Riddles former Station, when nigh 100 Indians left me, as they went after their things they left at the Forks of Licking, and I took the Road by the blue Licks as it was nigher and the ground more advantageous in case the Enemy should pursue us got to the Licks on the 17th and encamped. On the 18th in the morning, one of my Party that was watching the Road came in and told me the Enemy was within a mile of us, upon which I drew up to fight them at œ past seven they advanced in three Divisions in good order, they had spied some of us and it was the very place they expected to overtake us. We had but fired one Gun till they gave us a Volley and stood to it very well for some time, till we rushed in upon them, when they broke immediately. We pursued for about two miles, and as the Enemy was mostly on horseback, it was in vain to follow further. We killed and took One hundred and Forty six, amongst the killed is Col. Todd the Commandr., Col. Boon, Lt. Col. Trigg, Major Harlin who commanded their Infantry, Major Megara, and a number more of their Officers. Our loss is Monsr. LA BUTE killed; he died like a Warrior fighting Arm to Arm, six Indians killed and ten wounded. The Indians behaved extremely well, and no People could behave better than both Officers and Men in general. The Indians I had with me were the Wyandots and Lake Indians. The Wyandots furnished me with what Provision I wanted, and behaved extremely well. He had been confined to his bed about ten days with liver trouble, though for several years his health had been gradually failing. Seven years ago he retired from active business life, and had been living in quite retirement. From 1882, when Riggs and Musselman bought the Crown Jewel Milling Co., Capt. Rigs was the head of that institution, and coming in contact with the majority of the people of the county and vicinity established a reputation for business acumen and integrity that stood him in good stead up to the time of his retirement. He was a member of the School Board for 27 years, retiring last spring, having long served as chairman. He united with the Presbyterian church at Falmouth 44 years ago, and was an elder in the church at Cynthiana for many years. He was a member of the Odd Fellos and Masons at Falmouth. Benjamin Theodore Riggs was born in Paris, KY., on Feb. 25, 1839, a son of Benjamin Riggs and Anges Wilson Riggs. His father was born in Maryland in 1799 and learned the jeweler's trade in Philadelphia. He located at Millersburg, KY., thence going to Paris in the jewelry business, where he died in 1839. His wife Agnes Wilson Riggs, was born at Falmouth and was the daughter of James Wilson, a Revolutionary War Veteran. Capt. Riggs was married to Miss Kate Kerr in Fayette County, near Elmendorf, on April 26, 1866. His wife survives with two daughters and a son Major Kerr T. Riggs, stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., Mrs. W.E. Selin and Miss Theo Riggs, of this city. A brother, W.B. Riggs lives at Covington. Immediately after the war, in which Capt. Riggs was a Federal soldier, he was in business in Williamstown. The day was highly enjoyed by all present. No one ever left Old Pendleton with more good friends than J.W. Feagan and family. While they like Indiana extremely well, they surely enjoyed meeting their old neighbors, and this occasion will never be forgotten. This was Mr. & Mrs. Evans' first visit to Kentucky and the warm welcome they received and the prosperity of old Kentucky made for them a most pleasant trip. Those present were L.H. HENDERSON I am sure you are probably aware of this, but there is a large HENDERSON family in the California area of Campbell County. I am wondering if Sarah is from this family? It is a possibility that they moved back to where the HENDERSON's were or are buried with them. Just a thought.....perhaps a lead. I do have many of the HENDERSON's in my data base as several of our Campbell County lines include them. Let me know if you want a look-up for SARAH. There are also quite a few of the cemeteries online now for Campbell County. These families are inter-married with many of the families of Pendleton County next-door as you are aware. Many came from early Mason and Bracken County roots. Hope this helps. Karen Beagle
