He was born March 30, 1925 in Ricetown, KY, one of eight children of Willie and Nannie Noble Amis. During W.W.II, he served as a Army Medic in the European Theater. He came to Connersville in the 1950's as a stone mason and a carpenter and later, he was employed at Ford Electronic's and Refrigeration and it's successor until his retirement in1983. On July 17, 1971, he was married in Metamora, IN to Lela M. Allen. Mrs. Amis died November 27, 2005. He was an avid outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Hampton and husband, Dennis of Connersville; two granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Hampton; a brother, Pleasant Amis and wife, Jocelyn of Booneville, KY; a sister, Irene Bowling and husband, James of Ricetown, KY; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Beside his wife of 34 years, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Virgil. Ed, Earl and Allison Amis; two sisters, Madelon Harris and Pauline Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with military rites conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Rev. He was born on June 6, 1924 in Owsley County, Kentucky the son of George and Lillie Smith. He retired in 1986 from General Motors. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myrtle Smith in 1974; a son, Roger Dale Smith; and three brothers, Wesley, Oakley and Ralph. He was a loving father to son, Gary Lee Smith and daughter, Conice Smith. He also leaves a brother, Brown Smith; and 10 grandchildren, Donny Ray Richardson, David Richardson, Shawn Richardson, Kenneth Richardson, Andrew Richardson, Belinda Moore, Jackie Jenkins, Angela Smith, Michelle Smith, Gary Lee Smith; and 13 great grandchildren. He is gone but never forgotten. Miss Ollie Seal of Booneville left this week for California, where she expects to make her future home. Arch Treadway was shot in the arm while on his way to Ford by an unknown person. It was after dark and he was shot from the bank while running on the river. The following weddings have occurred since our last report: Uncle John Noble of Cow Creek, to Mrs. John Roberts; John Jett of Cow Creek, to Miss Lou Reynolds. Mr. Jett is the youngest son of H. C. Jett, and the bride is the daughter of Henderson Reynolds.

He moved out of Buffalo about 10 years ago and lived with two sons near Scoville which is much closer to town. Chester is one of the sons he lived with. Born September 3, 1921 in Booneville, Kentucky he was the son of the late Andrew & Paulina (Peters) Marshall. He lived much of his life in Franklin County, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. On June 19, 1954 he was united in marriage to the former Ella Mae Fabush, and she survives. He was a longtime member of the Laurel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Laurel. He was retired, and had been employed at the former National Metal in Connersville, Indiana for a number of years. Besides Ella Mae, his wife of nearly 55 years, survivors include eight daughters, Mary (Randall) Terry of Laurel, Janice Marshall of Liberty, Sharon Griffin of Brookville, Henrietta Hahn of Laurel, Theresa (Gary) Robertson of Laurel, Tina (Andy) Johnson of Oxford, Ohio, Judy Marshall of Laurel, and Catherine (Jeffrey) Yandell of King City, Missouri; four sons, Delbert (Lori) Marshall, David Marshall Sr., John (Amy) Marshall all of Laurel and Dewey & Katrina Marshall of Willisburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Annie Yarberry of Springfield, Missouri and Nora Mae Stidham of Dayton, Ohio; 32 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters, 3 brothers, as well as a granddaughter, Charity Johnson. Ella was a native of Owsley County, KY. Her parents were John "Breck" & Winnie (Rowland) Rose. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard L. Rose, and Ray B. Rose.
