Just wanted to thank all those that responded to me on my question regarding the Owsley County Public Library. Karen Jefferson County Indiana lookup Volunteer
I am looking for information on Joab Brewer and his wife Lucy Slatton. This Joab was born about 1812 in Moore Co., NC (according to online information) and was the son of Howell Cobb Brewer b. 20 Oct 1790 in Moore Co., NC and Louise Short. Joab supposedly died in Cape Girardeau Co., MO after 1850, but I haven't found any proof. Howell has conflicting death dates - from 1834 to 19 Apr 1886. I would love to hear form someone that might be able to straighten me out on this family! Thanks. Karen Jefferson County Indiana lookup Volunteer
I am trying to find someone that might know the exact death date of Lucy Ann Dunn Lynch. She was married to Benjamin Harrison Lynch 1875-1857 and they are both buried in the Nancy Lynch Cemetery. Her dates are given as 1882-1948. I can not locate her on the Kentucky Death Index. There is one Lucy Lynch that died at age 83 in 1955 in Jackson Co. That would make her birth year about 1872. Sure could use some help. I would like to order her death certificate and hopefully locate an obituary. Karen Jefferson County Indiana lookup Volunteer
Does anyone know the website for the Owsley County Public Library? I can not locate a "working" website online. Thanks. Karen Jefferson County Indiana lookup Volunteer
I am hoping to find someone that might have access to the marriage records about the time of 1925-1926. I am looking for the marriage of Chester Lynch and Daisy M. Cope. I know the Court House burned down, but I believe the records were microfilmed. I would also like to find a 1902 marriage of Benjamin Harrison Lynch and Lucy Ann Dunn. Hope to hear from someone! Hello Fellow Researchers! I would be interested hearing from anyone that is familiar with the family of Benjamin Harrison Lynch, b. about 1874 and died 24 March 1957 in Jackson Co., KY. His second wife was Lucy Dunn b. about 1882 and died abt 1948. I think they are both buried in the Lynch cemetery, but have found no listing of this cemetery online. Can anyone help? Hope to hear from someone. Karen Jefferson County Indiana lookup Volunteer

I am looking for any information I can find on my 3rd great grandparents, Marion H. Kelley and Louisa J. Holmes. I have recently found they were married in Owsley Co., Ky. and this occured on Sep. 27, 1858. If his marriage records are available out there, maybe they would list who his parents were. I can find no birthplace for Marion but I know he was born about 1838. Also, I have searched for a pension or a military record for him but have not found anything. If anybody has any info available, I really appreciate the efforts, Thank you, Greg Kelly
I have a couple of books that I wish to return to their owner. For a while I was a member of both the OCHS and OCHGS. During this time one of the members loaned me these books. Tell me the titles and give me your mailing address and the books will be promptly returned. I am no longer a member of either society and have lost the name of the owner. Thank you. J. O. I'm looking for a marriage record of William Boyd Short, married to Caroline Wariner or Warren. Their only child, Charles McPherson Short. On Charles death certificate it mentions his parents names.. The closest that I can figure out that William probably got married in the late 60's but no later then 1872, because that's when Charles McPherson Short was born. I have not been able to place William Boyd Short on the 1870 census. So I want to think that he was married after 1870 but no later then 1872. Remember Charles was born in 1872. If you happen to have a marriage record book on hand could you please check the index. for William Boyd Short and Caroline Wariner or Warren. Charlotte
If someone could help me out... I am trying to nail down exactly when William Evans came to Owsley Co., KY from Claiborne Co., TN., and when he died exactly. If anyone has any tax lists or will books or anything that could help me out, I would really appreciate it. In 1850 he is listed on the census in Claiborne Co., TN. 1860 he is in Owsley Co., KY. Hi Lists--John Ransom Rowland and Mollie Conner had 4 kids. Martha (13 Mar 1887) married Martin V Abston. Martin and Martha had 4 kids. Charles and William were twins and both died in 1917. The other two kids were George and James Otto. We have what we need on James Otto but George is lacking. We know he was born 4 May 1911 in Owsley County. On 17 May 1930 Gertrude Rowland married Robert Ash. The marriage was performed by Martin Abston and the witness was George & Mrs. Gwendolyn Abston. Gertrude Rowland was the daughter of Haggard H Rowland and Allie Jackson. Haggard was the son of John Ransom Rowland and Mollie Conner. Our problem is on 3 Apr 1930 George Abston was living with his folks and single and by 17 May 1930 he had a wife since both were on the Robert Ash and Gertrude Rowland certificate. According to Martha Abston Death Cert she was buried in Rowland Grave Yard. Martin Abston was buried in Ida May. Charles Abston was buried in Owsley Co and his brother William was buried in Rowland Grave Yard. It's confusing I know but hope there is a kind sole that can help. We have been chasing this line for a very long time. Take Care & God Bless, Jim Smith Collinsville, IL
