Hello Tom! I have Levi Smith being buried in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, Clay Co., KY along with Rachel, his wife, and son, John. Levi's mother must have died between 1860-1870 in Clay Co., KY because she is still alive in the 1860 census. I was unable to find the William Smith family in the 1850 census. I finally gave up but that census would give alot of extra info as far as more of his children. There is quite a few people on the internet who have mixed up Levi Smith with Lewis Smith. They both were born about 1847 and they both married Rachels who were born about 1852. Lewis E. Smith was born 7/12/1847 at Buckhorn, Perry Co., KY and died on 7/22/1921 at Shoal, Leslie Co., KY. He was s/o Preston Smith & Margaret Eversole. Lewis married Rachel Begley. She was born 12/20/1852 at Gay's Creek, Perry Co., KY and died 11/7/1919 at Shoal, Leslie Co., KY. They are both buried in the Joe Bowling Cemetery, Elkhorn, Leslie Co., KY. Your Levi Smith is listed in the HH of his father, William, in 1860 Clay Co., KY as being born about 1847 in Knox Co., KY. I have 4 children for Levi and Rachel: 1.) John R. Smith, b. 8/6/1875 Clay Co., KY, married Sarah Jane Philpot, b. 6/28/1876 Clay Co., KY, d/o Joseph "Joe Bollober" Philpot & Susan Bowling. 2.) Robert Smith, b. March 1880, Clay Co., KY and died before 1894. 3.) Henry Smith, b. 1884 Clay Co., KY and died before 1910. 4.) George Smith, b. 1892 Clay Co., KY. *Note: John & Henry are the only children listed as being in school in the 1894 school year. Hope some of this will help you. I am not sure where the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery is located in Clay County but others may. I have an Elisha Williamson Bowman (b 25 Dec 1775 in VA), son of Cornelius Sr. (b 1740), married to Sarah McGonigle: Marriage: Bond was paid by Barnett McMonigle; he also posted bond for a daughter, ? McGonigle, on the same fiche (I didn’t writer her name-need to look it up). Bowman is spelled Bauman on the fiche. 1800 Census: Elisha Bowman is listed in Madison County, Kentucky on October 1, 1800 1810 Federal Census: Elisha is listed in RCK (abbreviated) County, page 160. Read at FHL, SLC, October 2004 Tax Roll: An Elisha Bowman is listed on the 1811 Taxroll for Clay County, Kentucky. The previous entry is Sarah Bowman. Could be this Elisha and Sarah - not proven.
