Hi Barbara and All -- I believe that the Elijah Wainscott you asked about was a son of John C. Wainscott and Susannah Cugle. Elijah had at least 19 children over a 34 year period. Of course, it took 3 wives to do it. Nancy Clifton appears as his second wife. He married her in 1852, so it is unlikely that she was his wife on the 1850 Census. I have only one child born to Elijah and Nancy. She may have died in childbirth soon after the first child, as in Nov. 1856 Elijah married for the third time. Although he already had 7 children aged 1-16 from his first 2 marriages, he went on to have 12 more by his third wife.
