Just because it's an interesting story on the above marriages I am posting it here on the Owen list: Mitchell b 1816 Married 3/3/1936 to Nancy (Smith) Clifton b abt 1810 She is the widow of Robert Clifton (1805-1833) brother to Mitchell (not proven) Nancy and Robert had 7children (according to the 1830 census). Nancy dies bef 1844 (she and Mitchell had 2 sons Robert & Joseph) Mitchell then Married 12/6/1844 Elizabeth Smith b1824 She is Nancy (Smith Clifton's) sister and she and Mitchell had 5 known children. I have a copy of the original marriage records and guardian bonds (after Nancy dies Mitchell and brother David Jr were appointed guardians of Robert and Nancy's children) I guess it's called keeping it in the family and taking care of your own.
