Thanks to Fred Westcott and Gene Hammon for the info on the 3rd KY Mounted Rifles (CSA) and the 30th KY Mounted Infantry (USA)! According to his tombstone inscription, my gg-grandfather, W. Sanderson Mason, served as a private in the "1 KY MTD RIFLES CSA". He died in 1863, apparently while in service. Does anyone have any information on the 1st KY Mounted Rifles? Jim Mason
