Baxter lived in Owen County in 1850 with their two children, Martha Jane and John Marshall Baxter. This seems to have been on a farm. They were married in Madison County, KY in 1845. Family stories say that Anderson was killed by Morgan's Raiders when he refused to give up his horses. Another family story says that the Federal troops wanted his horses and when he refused, he was arrested and put into a Federal prison where he became ill and was sent home. According to his wife's obit, he died in September, 1862. I'm interested in how Anderson W. Baxter died. Was he killed by the Confederate soldiers, or did he die as the result of his imprisonment by the Federal troops? I am also interested in when his daughter, Martha Jane Baxter married my g grandfather, Thomas J. Miles, (from Henry Co., Ky.). According to the family bible, their first child was born December 2, 1860. Anderson and his son (John Marshall) are both buried in a place called Gratz Landing, according to family stories. Thank you for any information you can give me. Chet Hamilton --part0_921882420_boundary--
