There is a graveyard on Highway 227 which I believe is the old Bethany Church cemetery. (Not sure of the name) It is behind what was a church at one time. The conditions there are deplorable. Large old stones that could not have fallen by themselves are lying face down and of course the names are not visable. You dare not go to it in the summer as the weeds, tree limbs and branbles can keep you from getting to the stones. There is also the threat of snakes in such a place. Years ago, I copied the few I knew to be my step-father's family and I am thankful I did because they are now on the ground. There is a new church near by and a new grave plot. I just wonder if the old church was sold, a new one built, a new cemetery started and the old one ignored. There are laws against defacing gravestones but ignorant people do it everywhere and I guess it is almost impossible to enforce. Just wanted to put in my two-cents worth. I hope you luck. I do not live in Owen or Grant counties and so do not know whom you should call. Maxine
