    3. Attn: Fred -- I have Lucy Thomas as being married to James Harvey Quisenberry. and I read the land records to have Lucy as a sister to John Thomas. (Do I read you having her as a Daughter of John?) Do I read you as having Joseph Thomas (and Agnes Maddox) of Powhatan Va as maybe father of John Thomas? In Mar 1840 James J. Quisenberry b. c1822 (son of above.) m. Frances Ann Thomas, b. c1822 (dau of John Thomas and Sally Haydon) Attn: Merritt -- I would be interested in how we tie all the Quisenberrys together. 1. [KYOWEN-L] My surnames in OWEN CO.
    2. PHYLLIS A RAKER
    3. This is, rather, my husband's surnames and family. Can't do just one!! SHELTON - KNOX - LUSBY - QUISENBERRY - THOMAS I have posted the Shelton and Knox lines last week. Elzy Thomas Shelton m. 1882 Sarah Francis Lusby, dau of Younger Lusby m 17 Mar 1864 Mary Catherine Quisenberry . Parents of Younger Lusby were Samuel and Sally Lusby. Parents of Mary Catherine were James J. Quisenberry/Frances Ann Thomas m. Mar 1840. James J. was son of James Harvey Quisenberry and Lucy Thomas. Frances Ann Thomas, dau of John Thomas and Sally Haydon, dau of John Haydon. If I am reading the land records right (and I was wrong once before!!!!!) Lucy Thomas and John Thomas are brother and sister, making Jas J. Quisenberry and Frances Ann Thomas first cousins, no big deal, this was common in the old days. Will enter new post with comments about the matches I see on Quisenberry, Thomas. Phyllis -- in Cincy

    3. I am desperately searching for information on William MCFARLAND born in Owen County KY. He has one known son Simeon McFarland born in Owen County 1 Feb 1879 who dies in Bourbon Co. KY on 8 Dec 1911 of TB. Simeon marries Mary Elizabeth SETTERS they have 5 children, 4 boys are living at the time of his death, 1 girl I believe is deceased. The boys are farmed out to friends and Mary Elizabeth SETTERS remarries. I believe William MCFARLAND belongs in Thomas MCFARLANDs family in Owen County but I need proof. Also need his wife's name. I have been to the court house with no luck. Cheryl K. Roe ckerylk@mis.net

    2. Hi! I saw that someone was researching the perkins line and thought I would add my family to the search. You will have to forgive me I do not have very much information about them. Matilda Elizabeth Perkins was born about 1855. She married Daniel William Hammond (D.W. or Tuck was what he was called). They were married before 1869 and moved to Corinth, Grant County, Kentucky. They had 11 children. There last child being Elsie Jane Hammond who is my g grandmother. Elsie married a Dee Hammons in 1910 in Corinth, Grant County, Kentucky.. I have no idea who Matilda's parents were so any help with this Perkins line would be greatly appreciated. The other Owen County family names that I am researching are Hammons, Mullinex, Coulson, Colston, Guill, Morgan, Stevens, and Gaines. Thanks!! :) Melanie Hammons Bishop

    1. [KYOWEN-L] ALLNUT/RILEY/WRIGHT/MARSH/DAWSON/COATS
    2. Fred Westcott
    3. Hi, All, I think genealogy is very much the study of clans as they form, move and reform , and so offer the following. Harrison Co., KY was the home of the RILEY/MARSH family after 1810 where it is likely they came in contact with the Larkin GARNETT branch. Several of the MARSH girls married ALLNUTs there and the clan moved to Owen Co., KY. The ALLNUTs married heavily into the DAWSON family in MD in the latter 1700's and some of those in Owen Co. are likely to be cousins. One of the ALLNUT girls married Charles COATS. The 1850 census, Owen Co., KY, finds COATS and "CATES" as neighbors of the ALLNUT families and Margaret (WRIGHT) MARSH. COATS, ALLNUT and DAWSON names are also found together in Co E, KY Mtd Inf roster posted earlier. The WRIGHT family connection is strong. William ALLNUT m. Mary RILEY 1778. She was the daughter of Ninian and Sarah (TAYLOR) RILEY, and sister of Ninian and Gerrard RILEY. 1783/4 the family left Maryland for Surry Co., NC. William ALLNUT's son, Jesse ALLNUT, m. Patsey WRIGHT in NC, daughter of John WRIGHT, who reportedly had 18 children. Margaret/Peggy WRIGHT m. Samuel T. MARSH in NC and migrated with Garrard and Ninian RILEY to Harrison Co., KY by 1810. Margaret (WRIGHT) MARSH 83 is on the 1850 census Owen Co. with her ALLNUT son-in-law. Margaret's son, Andrew MARSH 40, is also in Owen Co. on this census. William and Mary (RILEY) ALLNUT likely came to KY with the rest of the clan from NC around the same time. Information about the WRIGHT family and its connections to the above - MAJOR FRANCIS WRIGHT AND ANN WASHINGSON: WITH ALLIED FAMILIES, by Anne Reed Ritchie, 1973, FHL 4 fiche, #6048014 (RILEY family, also ARNOLD, BOWMAN, CARTER, COX, WASHINGTON) SUPPLEMENT -CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS TO MAJOR FRANCIS WRIGHT AND ANN WASHINGTON, WITH ALLIED FAMILES, BY Anne Reed Ritchie, 1979, FHL 2 fiche, #6048015 (RILEY family, also CARTER, GRAVES HARMON, LOCKARD, ROBERTS) SUPPLEMENT NO. 2 - CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS TO MAJOR FRANCIS WRIGHT AND ANN WASHINGTON, WITH ALLIED FAMILIES, by Anne Reed Ritchie, 1982, FHL 3 fiche, #6048016 (ALLNUT, MARSH, RILEY families, also JOHNSON, PORTER, SCRUGGS) Little of the above is my original research. 3. Barbara, BINGO.... I think we have something here.... I have three or four Nancy Clifton's... One Elizabeth Smith born abt. 1824 married a Mitchell Clifton in about 1844. They had a daughter named Nancy M. Clifton. Mitchell was married two times: Elizabeth Smith and I have that he also married a Nancy Clifton.... that sounds confusing I know... anyway.... Nancy Margaret Clifton married William Nelson Bennett..... does this click with anything you have???
