    1. [KYOWEN-L] Owen County Families
    2. HI! I am researching the following Owen county families: Perkins: I am a descendant of Daniel Perkins born in 1847 son of William D. Perkins and Elizabeth Cobb. William D. Perkins was the son of Jeremiah Perkins and Anna Driscoll. Elizabeth Cobb was the daughter of Asa Cobb and Anna O'Bannon. Jeremiah Perkins was the son of Jane Downey and John D. Perkins. Anna Driscoll was the daughter of John Driscoll and mother unknown. Asa Cobb was the son of Juda'h Peake and Samuel Cobb. Anna O'Bannon was the daughter of Sussanah Martin and John O'Bannon. Sussanah was Jacob Martins daughter who was an original settler of McConnells Run and he is descended from the Germanna colony in Culpepper, Virginia. John O'Bannon is a descendent of Bryan O'Bannon of Fauquier County, VA. I am seeking information on all these lines plus the line of William Jones. William Jones was born in Pennsylvania Ca. 1780. He married Delia ( Delilah) Cobb daughter of Samuel Cobb and Juda'h Peake in Scott County., KY. He was the millwright who built the first watermill at Lusbys Mill ( then called Cobb Station). He and Delilah moved north on Eagle Creek to the area around New Liberty. Their son Thomas Jones married Sarah Martin ( daughter of Elijah Martin) on Nov. 9, 1833. If anyone is connected with William Jones please contact me. I am also descended from William Chapman and Landon Martin two of the other original Scott and Owen County settlers. All of my family was in the Lusbys Mill area even the Jones line moved back to Lusbys Mill in 1860. Thanks! MichaelAnne Guido Leargui@aol.com

    3. Researching these Owen Co. families: PRYOR (James Madison Pryor (married to Nancy Webster )died in Monterey ca 1903. HATLEY ORR WEBSTER MCCORMICK RO(D)GERS Some of these families lived in New Liberty area-don't know about the rest. Pryors came to Bourbon Co. from VA and descendants came to Owen. The rest of these lines were also supposed to have been originally from VA.

    1. [KYOWEN-L] Update
    2. Well, our list is a month old and we have over 60 members and 3 of them joined in the past few days. Wanted to say hi to all our new people and encourage them to tell everyone what main family line they are researching. Appreciate everyone posting the exchange of information on the list. I know we have not received a family profile from a lot of the subscribers, so again I am asking everyone to give some information on one of your family lines and be sure to list what area in Owen Co. they lived in. I have the "Our KY Roots" data base up and running it contains 126 surnames all with Owen roots http://members.aol.com/texroots/html/master.htm I have scanned the rest of the marriage records and have been cleaning them up, hope to have it on the web page by this weekend, will let you all know when it's ready. OK now lets hear from some of you "quiet" ones :) Barbara

    1. [KYOWEN-L] Kentucky Roots New
    2. Well, I have been at it again but I should let you all know I have been working on a lot of these projects for quite some time and just now putting the finishing touches on many of them. I do have another life besides the my web pages, today I had the fun (if you want to call it that) of going through my "old" tax papers, being audited Ahhhhhhh, that's what happens when your in business for yourself :) My latest project was real easy I used a GEDCOM conversion program, I relay don't care for them but it's a way for everyone to see the family names and link to that family without a lot of work on my part. It's called Our Kentucky Roots - A searchable data base for families that have roots in Owen County Kentucky. The only names found in this file have roots in Owen Co. right now it has 238 families representing 126 surnames most are in our direct family and cousins connected by marriage that we have been exchanging information with this past year. You can find it in "The Parlor" or for a direct link go here: http://members.aol.com/texroots/html/master.htm Anyone that has a GEDCOM on their Owen families send it on and I will add it to this page it only takes a few minutes to update. Thanks again for all the good information everyone is sending to the list love hearing from our Owen neighbors, Barbara

    1. [KYOWEN-L] Patrons List has Names Acres PO Occupation
    2. I just ran across this patrons list from the 1883 Owen Atlas my original intention was to post it here, but it contained to much information and made it hard to read so I placed it on my web page. The Atlas was published in 1883 and I would assume these were the sponsors. It gives the name, number of acres, PO, Occupation, place of birth and date of settlement in Owen Co. I have the names of the Lusby Mill Precinct No 2 on my page the direct link is: http://members.aol.com/cliftoncuz/LMT.htm The Atlas also has the following Precinct's: Montery, Harmony, Caney, New Columbus and Owenton. If you would give me some feedback on your area of research I will be glad to post this information on the Owen research pages. Send me an email RootDigers@aol.com and the most request will be posted next week. Barbara

I can add the following children to your list of those for James J. Quisenberry and Frances Ann Thomas. James and Frances married in March, 1840. On the 1850 Owen Co census, I find Jordan age 8 (name was hard to read, I deduct it as Jordan) Mary K. age 7 (that's Mary Catherine) Robert age 5 Narcissa age 3 I will check the LDS film on the Quisenberry info. 3. Hi, Phyllis, There may have been several THOMAS families, I'm not sure. I have very little on them. The only Lucy THOMAS I have m. in Gallatin Co., KY to Thomas STIGER 19 Feb. 1819, consent by Agnes NEW, mother of Lucy (Agnes MADDOX Thomas m.2 Jethro NEW 1813 Gallatin Co.) Bond: Elijah STEWART. The MADDOX, STIGER[STEGER], STEWART families came from Powhatan Co., VA Lucy MADDOX was first married to Joseph THOMAS. He seems to be connected to at least Francis THOMAS in Gallatin Co., KY in the early 1800's. John and William THOMAS were taxed in Gallatin Co. in the same time frame as Joseph and Francis and may have some familial relationship with them. The MADDOX, STEWART and STEGER families were previously found in Gallatin Co. records and then in northern Owen Co. after its formation 1819. 1. Re: [KYOWEN-L] Quisenberry-Thomas-Claxon
    2. Merritt Mullen
    3. The Quisenberry and Thomas families are a bit out of my line, but I have data on them because of their connections to my CLAXON ancestors. Putting together what I had with what I have seen here, it looks like there was a John THOMAS, b. abt 1760, who had at least 3 children: 1. Ann, m. James CLAXON (1779-1860) 2. Lucy, m. James Harvey QUISENBERRY (1786-1822) (murdered) 3. John, m. Sally HAYDON. Does this seem correct? Regarding James J. QUISENBERRY and wife Frances Ann THOMAS, I have the following children (per the 1870 Owen Co federal census): 1. Sarah F., b.1848/1849 2. Lucy Jane, b. 1852/1853 3. Spencer B., b. 1854/1856 4. Elizabeth, b. 1857/1858 5. Ann Eliza, b. 1858/1860. Where does Mary Catherine fit in? Did I read your post correctly that said she was the child of James J. Quisenberry, and that she married Younger LUSBY on 17 Mar 1864? Looks like I didn't see her on the 1870 census as she was b about 1844 and already married by 1870. By the way, most of my Quisenbery information comes from untangling the Owen Co deed records, which are sometimes confusing. The early Quisenberry ancestry is in "Genealogical Memoranda of the Quisenberry Family" by A.C. Quisenberry, Washington DC, 1897 (LDS film 1011853). Merritt

    2. Jim Mason
    3. John, Sorry, I do not have the source of Mary Martin Souder's birth year documented. I believe that information came from my mother, Velma Howard (Mary's granddaughter). Your information is probably more accurate; however, I am going to Owen Co. this week, so I will check to see where that date came from. I am a user of Family Tree Maker 5.0 which will import and export GEDCOM files. It will also import PAF files. Your "Family Origins 6.0" probably does the same. I'm looking forward to exchanging info with you. George Washington Howard had a sister, Patsy Ann, who married a James Souder, but I don't have any dates at all on them.
