    1. [KYOWEN-L] "My Most Wanted"-Duggins
    2. Susan Knittle-Hunter
    3. Hello Barb and Everyone! "My Most Wanted" names at this time are the names of William Leonard Duggins' mother and father. William Leonard Duggins was born in 188?, in Owen County, Kentucky. He married Carrie Adeline Alexander born 14-Feb-1881 in Owen County, Kentucky. William and Carrie moved to Moberly,Randolph County, Missouri; where my Grandfather Louis Denzel Duggins was born on 20-July-1905. Carrie was the daughter of Sanderson Talton Alexander, born 4-July-1854 in Owen County, Kentucky and Harriet Frances Stephenson of Owen County, Kentucky. Some very old notes of mine indicate that William Leonard Duggins had a 1/2 sister named Elizabeth Alexander (supposedly a gg-grandaughter of Zachary Taylor)and two more siblings named Louis and Josephine "Josie". I am not certain of their last names. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Susan Hunter _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? 3. Hi Barbara and the rest. What holidays would that be? You mean way back in December of last year? I've been concentrating on my ggrandfather's Civil War records in MO and IA, trying to get a lead that will let me make a more reasonable search here in Owen Co. In case you forgot, or, are new, he was: SMITH, James C., b 31 Jan 1836, Owen Co., KY; d 4 Mar 1899, Arbela, Scotland Co., MO; m(1) 20 Dec 1860, HOLDER, Lucinda, Scotland Co., MO; she died 15 Jan 1870; m(2) 30 May 1870, Scotland Co., MO, YEAGER, Cordelia Mary. He was also a Civil War Veteran; served in Co. F, 1st Missouri Cavalry (USA, I believe). Anyhow, I'm still lurking and reading, so be careful what you say! Regards, Floyd E. 1. [KYOWEN-L] Update & where is everyone???
    2. Everyone must still be recouping from the holidays it's been very quiet. My mother just left to go back home so I am trying to get my self organized and get back into the swing of things. As a suggestion to get things going again how about "My most wanted" or "Brick Wall" list one family line or family member (with as much detail as known) never know who might be out there with just the information you need. I just found (or they found me) 2 new cousins on a family I have not done a lot of research on I had posted to another surname list and now I have a real good history on this line plus the new cousins. So let's hear for you. Update on the Owen Web page----------- I copied the "Brides List" to add to the Owen marriage records on my web page no promises but will try to have it on line in a month. I have a lot of material to post to the page lot's of updates and new information to add to the 1850 census project. On the Hammon/d lines, had 8 new Hammon researchers contact me over the holiday's with lots of new information and several new family connections some of the cousins are sorting this out now so I can update the web page with all the new information. Hope to hear for you all very soon Barbara

She was born Suzanne Berry in Hudson, New York or the surrounding area between 1954 and 1956. She was adopted out shortly before I was born so I have little information to go on. I was told that she was raised by a family living in Maldon Bridge, New York with the last name of Hollenbeck or Hollenbeck. I was also told that they may have changed her first name and/or used Suzanne as a middle name but I'm not sure. Please understand that she could be married with a different last name and/or living anywhere in the country. I found out about her as a teenager and have been trying to find her ever since but I keep running into dead ends. If anyone that reads this knows who she is or may have information that may be helpful in my search, please contact me at the e-mail address listed below or you can write me at PO Box 4562 Pittsfield, MA 01202. I'd also appreciate it if you would send this url to everyone on your list in hopes that someone reading it knows of her or might be able to help. I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read this and any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. <A HREF="mailto:DonBerry@aol.com?subject=Information about your sister. 3. Hello All, I was going through some old notes I had taken over 20 years ago at a family reunion for the Duggins Family of Owen County, KY. In these notes I have written that my Great Grandfather William Leonard Duggins, of Owen County, KY, had a 1/2 sister by the name of Elizabeth Alexander and a brother Louis and another sister, Josephine. I am not sure of the last names of any of them except William Leonard Duggins and Elizabeth Alexander. My question is this: in my notes I have written that Elizabeth Alexander is the GGGrandaughter of Zachary Taylor. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Also, an aunt just told me this week that she understood that Sanderson was one of our family names from Owen County, KY. Several of my family names contain Sanderson as a first or middle name, but not as a surname. Any ideas? I still have some wives with no last names that could be Sanderson. I hope that I have not confused anyone. Thanks, Susan Knittle-Hunter _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? 1. [KYOWEN-L] Internet Message
    2. MR RONALD L MESHEW
    3. Vicki, Yes too many people with the same name does get confusing. All of my datawas taken down while reviewing the National Archives info I had received just before I had a heart attach about six years ago. I wrote it down in my note book while recuping in Wake Memorial Hospital. I could have made some mistakes, but in summary, here are the relationships.as I noted them (I am going to move within the next couple of months and have the original copies from the NA stashed some where, these items are from my note book.) Note: During the giving of testimony, each person had to state their age, and residence. John W. HOPPER, b.6/6/1821, d. 9/11/1896 m1, April, 1843, Margaret SPALDING, b.__?__,d. April 1873. They had (6) children that lived: Elizabeth, the oldest child, b.1844-1845, married Winfield S. Willhoite. Moved to Madison, IN Frank, married Morticia __?__, and they moved to Muncie IN. He died before 1900. John or Johnnie Lemuel Calvin, lived in Seymour, IN late in 1908. He was a railroad employee. Also lived in Cincinnati, OH. Susie, the youngest child, married __?__Willhoite. They remained in the Monterey/Gest area. John W. HOPPER, m2, 6/12/1875, Anne TAYLOR, b.__?_, d. 8/7/1877 Anne Taylor had one daughter, Margaret A. HOPPER, b. 6/13/1876, m. Thomas McDonald Note: It was stated that John and Anne had another chikld, who was John's Step Son. No details were given other than the testimony. Anne"s relatives listed were: *Lemuel TAYLOR, her father, who passed away prior to 1900. *Sarah S. TAYLOR CARR, who stated she was 68 on the date whe appeared to give her testimony, 6/5/1909. She was a sister to Anne. *B. F. TAYLOR, her brother, who was 67 on 6/4/1909. *Cornelius TAYLOR, Anne's brother, who was 62 on 6/4/1909. His wife was Nancy C. __?__. He stated that Anne and Sarah Jane were NOT related. It was stated that Anne was buried in the TAYLOR burial grounds in Swallowfield, KY. I presume that Lemuel was buried there also. John W. HOPPER m3, Nov. 1879, Sarah Jane TAYLOR, b. 8/19/1861, d. 7/13/1886. Her relatives listed were: Richard TAYLOR, her father, who was still married to Anne's Step Mother, Matilda E., in 1909. (I learned that Patsy was Richard's first wife's name, but I have not located here surname.) Mary C. TAYLOR WILLHOITE, her half sister who was 36 in 1909. Lawrence W. TAYLOR, Anne's first cousin, but not related to John Hopper, and tells me that a third TAYLOR family lived in the area, and that Richard had a brother.. He was 38 in 1909. John W. HOPPER, m4, 1/7/1892, Armilda PERKINS They separated on 6/16/1893. She filed for divorce, but the case was dropped when he died in 1896. She married Joseph HILES after John HOPPER died. When I can, I will get the papers and go through them again. It will allow me to practice up on my reading the hand scripts of the early 1900's. I can understand why you feel that this Sarah S. TAYLOR CARR might not be your Sarah CARR. ESpeciall if the other Sarah was said to have been 3-5 years younger in age. If I find any thing else, I will pass it on to you. Better close, and get some other notes answered. Keep the shovel turning....it pays dividends.

    3. Hello Barbara and Jim, Thanks for your reply regarding "Angus/Amos" Alexander. I am sorry but I don't have any other information about who his parents were. 1. Re: [KYOWEN-L] Re: Internet Message (Carr, Taylor, Mitchell)
    2. In a message dated 99-01-09 14:03:53 EST, you write: << If I am interpreting Ron's message correctly, I get: Lemuel Taylor (wife not given), of Franklin or Owen Co, buried Swallowfield, had children: B.F. Taylor (farmer in Swallowfield area) Anne Taylor, d. 7 Aug 1877 (m. John W. Hopper, his 2nd wife) Sarah S. Taylor (m. James Carr) Richard Taylor (unrelated to Lemuel Taylor), m. (1) Patsey (4 children) and (2) Matilda E. (5 children). Children were (which mother not given): Cornelius "Neil" Taylor (m. Nancy C.), blacksmith in Swallowfield Sarah Jane Taylor, d. 1886 (m. John W. Hopper, his 3nd wife) Sarah Jane and John W. are the great grandparents of Ron Menshew. John W. Hopper's first wife was not given. Did I get it right? >> I read it several times and this is the way I understood it. As far as this being our Sarah Carr, I'm still not certain, because the information that I have says she was born in 1845. This would have made her about 64 years of age in 1909 rather than 68. I didn't have the name of either of Sarah Taylor Carr's parents, so this at least gives me a name to check out. Ron, if you read this message, can you verify this or add anything more to what we have now? Do you know for certain that this is the same Sarah Taylor who married James Carr? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Vicki

    2. Jim Mason
    3. The recent exchange of information on the ALEXANDER family here on the Owen Co. mail list has aroused my interest because I too have some connection with this family, and I can remember hearing my Dad talk about "Doc" (Riley Hayden) Alexander (he married my father's sister, Nora Mason) and "Uncle Wes" (Wesley) Alexander. If someone can confirm that the Wesley Alexander who was the son of Angus Alexander (per Barbara Guinn's message of 01/03/1990) was the father of Riley, Bernice, and Charles Alexander, it will help me tremendously. Does anyone have any information on Stonewall "Stoney" Alexander who married Laura Kinman as to who his parents were and how he may tie in to the other Alexander's? I believe their children were Alvin (he married Mable Souder), Rebecca, Hattie Mae, and William "Bill" Alexander. Also, I believe that Laura Kinman's parents were Riley Kinman and ? Souder (his first wife). My mother said that she remembered that Riley Kinman was married 3 times. Jim Mason (mailto:cousin@jett-mason.com)

    1. [KYOWEN-L] Re: Internet Message (Carr, Taylor, Mitchell)
    2. Ron: Thanks for the message concerning the Taylor family. It gets a little confusing sometimes with so many having the same name, doesn't it? Anyway, I figured it out and I really appreciate your input. I didn't have any information yet on Sarah Taylor Carr's family. Just knowing her father's name will be very helpful in itself. Thanks to this list, I have learned a great deal about my ancestors already that I never knew before, especially the Carr side. If I run across anything that might help you out, I will certainly let you know. Thanks again, Vicki

    1. [KYOWEN-L] Re: Perkins, Hawkins, Wainscott, Carr, etc.
    2. Merritt, Thanks so much for all the information! You do have quite a bit and I sure appreciate your sharing it with me. Sorry if I don't always get back to you in a timely manner, but I'm not always able to check my e-mail regularly. The information I have states that Sarah Taylor was born in 1845. The following is additional information on the children of James Carr & Sarah Taylor. These were all the children they had. 1. Ann Beatrice Carr, b. 2 Sept. 1865. 2. Bowen Carr, b. 1867, lived about 2 years. 3. Susannah Carr (m. Murphy), b. Nov. 1869. 4. Ellen Carr (m. Taylor), b. 1871. 5. Lemuel Carr, b. 1874, lived about 2 years. 6. Reuben Carr, b. 1 May 1876, d. 20 Jan. 1931. 7. Martha Wise Carr, b. 16 Feb. 1877. 8. Elizabeth (Bettie) Carr (m. Barnes), b. 1880. 9. James Carr, b. 1884, died in infancy. BTW, this material was obtained from Reuben Carr & Mary Tiny Mitchell's last remaining child, my great-aunt, Tiny Carr Herrell. I did not have any information on Jacob Carr. Reuben was as far back as my information went, and the only child I had on him was James, although I knew that he and Susannah Miles had 11 children altogether. You have supplied me with a wealth of information which will be extremely helpful in my quest to trace my roots. I will gather together the information I have on the descendants of Reuben Carr and Mary Tiny Mitchell and send it to you as soon as I can. Gratefully yours, Vicki Marsh
