Dr. Thomas L. Riley is a retired UK Community College President who also served as the National President of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Kentucky Historical Society, and he is descended from the Owen County Rileys (as am I), and he wrote us in a Christmas card that there is a new book on Rileys that is coming out, but didn't give any further information. He currently lives in Lexington. I never got back to him. I suppose I will eventually. If anyone anxious for this information they could contact him directly. Just talked to my cousin Glenna today and she said that Elizabeth (Betty) Jackson is the sister to Elvira Jackson (this is her husbands direct line) and the girls father was Soloman Jackson son of Alexander and Durcella [Winscott] Jackson and Alexander's father was George Jackson of Gallaton County, KY Also her husband's father was named after Soloman E. but when the doctor put the name on the birth regester it was listed as Sollie he continued to use the name and now his son (Glenna's husband) carries the name Sollie "Clifton" Hope this helps and if anyone wants more information on the Soloman E. I would like to know more descendants of William Estes (born 1820), the son of Middleton Estes and Elizabeth Adams. He appears in ESTES GENEALOGIES by Charles Estes, 1894; ESTES FAMILIES OF OLD CLAY COUNTY, by Edward McAllister et.al, and GENEALOGIES OF LEWIS AND KINDRED FAMILIES, by J. N. McAllister and L. B. Tandy. The children I have of them is Sarah F., Elizabeth A., Annie M., Benjamin D., Absolom A., William Albert, Samuel W., Katie M., and John M. Estes, born beginning from 1844 to 1866. William Estes lived south of New Liberty, in the northern part of Owen County, Kentucky. Is this Lyon family the Lyon family of Elizabeth Lyons that married George Washington O'Bannon? Is the Jacob refered to in the deed the child of George Washington O'Bannon and Elizabeth O'Bannon? Here is another one same John Clifton signed for his daughter Nancy to marry: December 30, 1846 John signed marriage bond for Nancy Jane Clifton to marry Thomas Wilson. In 1860 Nancy (widow of John) and son John Junior found living next door to Nancy Wilson, she had a son John W age 4 and a William B. Clifton age 11 were in the home no husband. Still trying to tie up some loose ends does anyone have any information on Richards/Richardson family may not have lived in Owen Co. I have Nancy born 1807 KY married John Clifton (son of David SR) on July 17, 1823 in Owen County, Kentucky. My John died in 1849 leaving Nancy a widow on the 1850 census she never remarried and lived with a son until her death after 1860 in Owen County She was listed a blind on the census in 1850.
