    1. [KYOWEN-L] COURT HOUSE RECORDS
    2. I have received quite a few email regarding the "box" of marriage records at the Owen Court house. I called my cousin Glenna this AM and she is going to the court house today and I will have some answers for everyone. She did tell me that the box contains other documents besides the marriage records, BUT ALL THE DOCUMENTS SEEM TO BE FOR THE YEAR 1840 Some of you mentioned you would volunteer to transcribe them this would be wonderful I can privately put you in touch with Glenna when you are ready to make the trip, she knows this court house inside out but she does not have the time to volunteer her services to this. Also I wish I could ask her to do research for all of you but she just does not have the time. She has done research (finding original documents at the court house) in the past or other families but for a small fee. I do not know what her schedule is right now I know they are expecting a grand baby very soon and they do a lot of volunteer work in the community. If anyone would like to retain her to find some records, again let me know I will ask her and see what she can work out for you. Another solution for thoes of us that cannot get to the court house some of you that can may want to help others on our mailing list. It's up to you to offer your services I know when I am doing my research my time is limited, but I do not mind looking up something if I have all the information and for the price of copying and postage. Others have done it for me so I like to return the favor. That's what our list is for to share and help other Owen researcher's. Anyone have any ideas let me know, I will keep sharing what I receive with everyone Barbara

I am also missing a marriage for Zeptha May and Mary Kersey that occurred in Owen County around 1845-1848. They had no children and Zeptha May died before 1852. On May 13, 1852, Mary Kersey May married William Ballard in Owen County, Kentucky. They were married by the Rev. J. L. Ballard. I need information on William Ballard if anyone has anything on him. He and Mary Kersey May were both killed before 1856 and they had only one child my gggrandmother Sarah Catherine Ballard who went to Stamper's Mill and lived with her maternal grandparents Hickman Kersey and Sarah Davis Kersey. Sarah Catherine Ballard was born in 1854. She married Daniel C. Jones in Owen County, Kentucky in 1871. There was a family of Henry Ballard in Stamper's Mill on the 1850 census that was eight people away from Hickman Kersey. I can't connect William Ballard with this family. If anyone is a Ballard or connected to the Ballards please let me know if you can help with this one. Thanks. MichaelAnne --part0_920941555_boundary--

    1. [KYOWEN-L] ANN O'BANION PARENTS
    2. I received this today from MichaelAnne Guido (LEARGUI@aol.com) she answered my question on the parents of Ann O'Banion wanted to share it with the group lots of good information on the O'Banion's if anyone is researching this line and when we figure out the right connection I will let everyone know Thanks again Barbara -------------------------------------------------------------- I have no way of being certain but I believe that this Anna O'Banion could be a namesake for Anna O'Banion (O'Bannon) the wife of Asa Cobb. Asa Cobb did post the bond. If I had to guess it is probably a niece and if her last name is O'Banion she would have been one of Anna's brothers daughters. Her brothers were: Bryan O'Bannon, Jacob O'Bannon, John O'Bannon, William O'Bannon, George Washington O'Bannon and Joel O'Bannon. From the 1840 marriage date we can assume Anna was born ca. 1820-24. The only two brothers who were married at that time and could have been her father were Jacob O'Bannon and Bryan O'Bannon. I do not have a list of children that is complete for either brother. Jacob O'Bannon married Alice (Alsey) McKinzie on Jan. 6, 1814. Bryan O'Bannon married Polly Smith in Owen County in March 1823. John and William both got married in Indiana. William in 1827 and John in 1829. George Washington O'Bannon married Elizabeth Lyons on December 27, 1827, in Owen County and Joel married Harriet Stafford around 1832/3. Without knowing how old Anna O'Banion is that got married in 1840, I see no consent form or person giving consent meaning she must have been of age. That would narrow it down to Jacob O'Bannon and Alice McKinzie. They are the only ones who could had had a daughter 21 or over. (MY NOTE ANNA WAS 21/22 WHEN SHE MARRIED - Barbara) If she was younger the best choice would probably be Bryan O'Bannon and Nancy "Polly" Smith. Jacob O'Bannon and his family moved to Chicot County, Arkansas between 1840-1845. There is only one son of theirs that I have found that remained in Owen County. Do you have any other information on Anna O'Banion that might help pin this down further? I hope this helps. MichaelAnne Guido
