The Revolutionary soldier Edward Dunlap Kenny's pension record says Edward D. Kenny alias John Kenny served out of Pennsylvania. Edward and John Kenny are the same person.(I still haven't figured out why he has an alias...). "In reply to your request for a statement of military history of John Kenney or Edward D. Kenney a soldier of the Revolutionary War, you will find below the desired information as contained in his S.F. 35,487 for pension on file in the Bureau. June 1777 to end of war Lt. David Marshal, Vernon, PA. Date of application June 2 1828. Residence at date of application Scott Co, KY Age at date of application 65 years. in 1828 he referred to his wife(name not stated) between 50 & 60 years of age, his daughter, Pamela, age not stated, and his sons Jack, 17, Dunlap age 15, William 12 and Richard, 9 yrs. old." Edward D(or John) Kenny's will is on record in Owen County, KY , and mentions his wife Nancy and also another daughter, Charlotte Kenny Gibbs plus the children named above.. A Nancy Shumate, daughter of Daniel and Tabitha (Dodson) Shumate married an Edward Kenny in Fauquier Co,VA which I believe is his wife mentioned in the will. The Shumate historians, say Nancy and Edward left VA soon after their marriage, which coincides with the birthplace of their first daughter whose birthplace is KY on the the 1850 census. Dear Listers Thanks for a view of the Pension List. My ancestor, Lewis Vallandingham, was on the list, as I thought. I believe he was half Shawnee. And he was a fourteen year-old soldier during the Rev War in Fairfax, VA. Then he served under D. Boone and Geo. Rogers Clark during the Indian Wars afterward. His wife, Betsy Bruce Drake Vallandingham, got the pension until 1856. Then the family was off the dole for a while. Tom
I decend from Edward Kenney age 78, through his daughter Charlotte Kenny Gibbs if anyone else is working this line. Cathy Crenshaw Morgan

Let hear about the success stories never know who else might be a cousin, or if anyone has some history they would like to share and by the way a big THANK YOU to Jackie Couture for the Business Directories she is currently posting. ALSO JUST A REMINDER that Roots-L has blocked all non subscribers mail to ALL LISTS to keep us from getting "spammed" and some of you, like myself, use more than one screen name. Be sure to use the email address you subscribed under or your posting will not go to the list. I do not mind forwarding it but then it does not have your return address. Also be sure to sent all your posting to KYOWEN-L@rootsweb.com and if replying to a posting please copy a reply back to the list. Thanks Barbara
