This link was not working this morning so I did not send it along with the other material but it is open now for free lookups. My great-great grandfather was confined in Andersonville. Barbara -------------------------------------------- Andersonville Prisoners of War, 1863-65 The most infamous Confederate prison camp of the Civil War, Andersonville housed an estimated 45,000 Union soldiers during the war. This database is a collection of records compiled by the National Park Service of camp inmates between 1863 and 1865. Researchers will find rank, unit, death, and capture information in addition to the inmate's name and state of residence. In some cases, the National Park Service has more information for some soldiers. Inquiries regarding these men can be directed to: National Park Service, Andersonville National Historic Site, Rt. 1, Box 800, Andersonville, GA, 31711. With over 37,000 records, this collection can be an enormous help to researchers of Union ancestors who were captured by the Confederate States of America in the later years of the war. Just a quick note to let you all know that the "searchable" Owen family list has been updated. Go to http://members.aol.com/cliftoncuz/parlor.htm look for "Our KY Roots" I have been working on my Clifton line (one reason for all my posting) trying to finish up a paper for the Owenton library a project Glenna and I have been working on for some time. I just realized all the connecting families I had in my data base. I extracted the Owen Co family connections from my data base this covers a period from 1800's through present (no living included) 201 surnames & 372 families are listed. This data also includes the Ancestral information of some lines as well as the family lines that moved to Randolph Co.,Missouri and elsewhere. Please check out the information it's in a GEDCOM format all names linked. If anyone has information to add or corrections please write to me. Also if you have a GEDCOM on any Owen County family I will be glad to post it using this format, sorry I cannot except written information, unless you have a family history you want to add to the "Founding Families of Owen Co. Hi again -- I am trying to get in contact with Perry Sutterfield, a Wainscott researcher. Can someone send me his email address? Thanks, Sue Streett
I need help finding information on my MARION line on the 1910 Census for Owen Co., KY. Can you help me? I will gladly compensate you. Specifically, I'm looking for William (P.) and Alabama (Allie) MARION who lived in Gratz, KY. William would've been about 34 years old and Allie about 31. They may have had at least one child living with them, Maude Lorraine MARION, my Grandmother. Please contact me via e-mail at DSfoot@aol.com if you're willing to lend a helping hand, and we can iron out all the details. Thank you, Cindy Steenfott
I have been searching for my Thurman/Thurmond ancestors in Henry County and O'Brien/Denny ancestors in Owen County. In the 1890 Special Census of Veterans I ran across a John Thurman in SD 4 ED 144 Mincor Civil Division Owenton Precinct House Number 135 Family 140. It has a notation Add... and gives no other information such as rank company etc. Does anyone know anything about him and if he fits with the Henry County Thurmans. Thanks for any help. Marvin Thurman
Our Charles/Easter Clifton on the 1880 census has a niece listed in his household Nancy Wainscott 22 (b abt 1858) In his will 1896 Charles gives to "adopted daughter Nancy Hays" she was married to J. T. Hays (his name is listed in the will) I am trying to figure out if the Nancy Wainscott and Nancy Hays are one and the same. Even if they are not I need to find out who Nancy Wainscott's parents were it may lead me to finally connecting Charles to his proper family group, he is one of my Clifton boys that I have not been able to positively place in our family also his marriage records show that Easter was a Clifton and I have not been able to place her with a family, they married 2/6/1845 he was 20 & she was 19 so I do not think she was married before, but nothing surprises me in genealogy. Any leads would help Thanks Barbara

Hi everyone-- I am new to this list, but have been studying the Wainscott family for quite a while. I am hoping that someone can clarify which Wainscott brother Elizabeth Langley married. Nathan H. Wainscott and Jesse Baker Wainscott were sons of David Greenup Wainscott and Rebecca Baker. One record indicates that Elizabeth Langley married Nathan on Feb. 17, 1837, and another indicates that she married Jesse on Aug. 16, 1838. In her marriage to Nathan, she is credited with 5 children, born 1837-1847. The record showing her married to Jesse shows no children born to her. Apparently, on June 8, 1843, Jesse (re)married to Virginia R. Newson; by her he had 4 children born 1844-1850. Can anyone shed light on this? Sue Streett

Any Prather researchers I just found a book on the Prathers and it had a lot of very well documented information on the forefathers of our Owen Co., Prather line I have also connected most of the children of Benjamine Higgins & Elizabeth (Kightly) Prather and have found cousins that connect to the branches that moved to Randolph Co., MO before 1880. I will be posting this new information to my web page but just wanted to update everyone on the new find. PS for the Hammon researchers there was a lot of intermarriage between the two lines especially after they moved to MO. Barbara
Hand written marriage bond (most of the bonds I have are "fill in the blanks") bond for Josiah Clifton to marry Lusaney Wainscott dated Sept 18, 1840 Bond by Josiah and Mitchell Clifton, his brother. Josiah is the son of David Sr and Easter Clifton this is his first marriage and still looking for her parents. Josiah was born 1817 their first child was born 1841 they had 4 children Edward, Sarah, David & Elizabeth Frankie, she was the last child born to them in 1848, We know Lusaney dies before 1850 because Josiah then marries Demaris Ann Prather January 10, 1850 Richard Wainscott (age 51 on the 1850 census) is the only one living near the Clifton farm that is old enough to be her father anyone have any ideas. Glenna (the one who provides me with all these wonderful documents) would be very grateful this is her husbands direct line FYI my line is out of the second marriage Thanks Barbara
