COURT ORDER BOOKS 1 & 2 JULY 1799 THRU NOVEMBER 1808 Read and Copied by SHIRLEY WATSON SMITH Court Order Book 1, Page 96 "August Term 1805 On the motion of JESSE ASHBY and he making satisfactory proof to the court there is granted unto him four hundred acres on the south side of Rough Creek, adjoining Matthew Walton and others, agreeably to the acts of assembly for granting vacant land in the commonwealth to letters, according to the following location filed which is ordered to be recorded as follows (to wit) AUGUST 12, 1805 JESSE ASHBY enters four hundred acres of land on the south side of Rough Creek, beginning at Morris Brady's corner on said creek thence with his line to Howell's original line thence with said line to Matthew Walton's corner thence with Walton's line to the creek thence with it's different meanderings down the creek to the beginning.
