There is no connection. Davis is of English extraction and Daviess of Irish. Jefferson Davis's family came in through Georgia. The Daviess family came through Virginia and North Carolina. There may be more than one family of Davises represented in the area, but those that have been researched so far all apparently came to Kentucky from Virginia. Is this more clearly stated?
