I have found the "other" William Thomas Stewart. He is the one that appears in Ohio Co. in 1870 as Wm. T. with wife Missouri. The more I read and the more I researched, something wasn't working for me. So I kept checking. There are definately 2 different William Thomas Stewarts if in fact the one that appears as Thomas T. Stewart is really a William. I called Warren Co. clerk the only information available was a marriage register. It only lists the names and dates. Dec 28, 1858 Wm. T. Stewart marries M. J. Spinks. We know by Barry's post that Missouri Jane Spinks shows up at home census after census. So... I checked further in 1850 there are 2 M. J. Spinks (female) same age. One is the daughter of John Spinks and the other is the daughter of Isaac Spinks. They are brothers. But here is how I know that the William Stewart that is in both the 1870 (wife listed as Missouri J.) and 1880 (wife listed as Jane) is not the same man that married Jane English Allen..... I found his death certificate and his son, Frank's. William Thomas STUART died in Missouri in 1917. His grandson, George, was the informant and list William's father as ADAM STUART. There is an A. Stuart in Warren Co. in 1850 with a son W. T. On Frank F. STUART's death certificate it lists his parents as William STUART and Jane SPINKS. His son Fred was the informant. It appears that William and Missouri Jane moved to Illinois probably when oldest daughter Margaret and her husband, Daniel Coy, did. The Coys and Stewarts then moved on to Stoddard Co. Missouri. The Stewarts stayed in Missouri but the Coys moved on to Colorado. Here is a family chart: Descendants of John Adam Stuart 1 John Adam Stuart b: Abt. 1812 in Kentucky Mary "Polly" Spinks b: Abt. 1815 m: November 19, 1835 in Warren Co., KY ........2 William Thomas Stuart b: July 18, 1838 d: December 23, 1917 in Stoddard County, MO Burial: December 24, 1917 Rock Hill Cemetery, Stoddard Co., MO ............ Missouri Jane Spinks b: March 1840 in Kentucky m: December 28, 1858 in Warren Co., KY ........3 Margaret J. Stuart b: August 1861 .............. Daniel Coy b: April 1857 in Kentucky ................4 Leslie Coy b: March 1886 in Kentucky ................4 George Harrison Coy b: June 12, 1889 in Illinois (note: George servied in WWI) ................4 Edna Ruth Coy b: October 1899 in Missouri ................4 Pearl Coy b: Abt. 1902 in Colorado ................4 Della Coy b: Abt. 1906 in Colorado ............3 William J. Benjamin Ziglar ................4 Amanda Ziglar b: 1885 ................4 Netter Ziglar b: 1888 ................4 Archie Ziglar b: 1889 ................4 Taylor Ziglar b: 1895 ............3 John A. Stuart b: 1869 ............3 Franklin F. Stuart b: 1874 d: February 04, 1924 in Stoddard County, MO Burial: Rock Hill Cemetery, Stoddard Co., MO ............... Anna Unkwn m: in Missouri .................4 George W. Stuart b: Abt. 1896 .................4 Felix Fred Stuart b: Abt. 1898 .................4 Walter Stuart b: Abt. 1899 .............3 Mary L. Stuart b: 1876 The 1870 and 1880 had Missouri Jane's age wrong. Per the 1900 Stoddard Co. Missouri census William and Missouri both say they have only been married once and have been married for 40 years. She advised that she only had 4 living children out of 13. That is probably why there is such a gap in the ages their children. One thing that is consistant is the spelling. In 1850 Warren Co. it is STUART and that is the way it is on the death certificates. It doesn't appear that the STEWARTs in Ohio Co. are closely connected with the STUARTs of Warren Co. I hope this helps clear some of the confusion.
