    1. [KYOHIO] The Real Part 2 from Hartford (Ky) Weekly Herald 8/3/1892
    2. Continued from Part 1 Archie Cain has the best barber shop in Hartford. He is an expert in his line and is prepared to give you a shave or haircut in the most approved style. Call on him at the Hartford House. ***** There will be a class meeting at Goshen next Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock, and preaching by the pastor, Rev. E. E. Pate at 11 a. m. At 7:30 in the evening he will preach at Beaver Dam. ***** Mr. D. E. Thomas has bought the property recently vacated by Mr. Wm. Milligan, and will improve the house into which he will move upon the return of his wife, who is visiting friends in Connecticut. ***** Died, at his home at Beda, last Friday at 7 o'clock, a. m., Nathan Bennett. His remains were interred in the family burying grounds Saturday afternoon. Funeral services conducted by Revs. G. J. Bean and E. E. Pate. Mr Bennett was almost 83 years old, and had been a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church for more than fifty years. ***** Stirman Massie came out a bad second in a scrapping match with Sam Casebier Saturday night. Mr. Casebier was standing near the Hartford House when Massie approached and began abusing him, finally starting at him with a knife. Casebier picked up a buggy spoke which happened to lie near, and inflicted several bad wounds on Massie's hand, knocking him down and relieving him entirely of further belligerent intentions. Massie was drunk. ***** Note: this is my GG Grandfather, and this notice is the reason I have a copy of this page: While cutting grass with a mower , Thursday, Dr. S. A. Jackson , of Rockport, was thrown in front of the knife, and dragged quite a distance by a run-a-way mule team. His legs were badly lacerated, and he was bruised and hurt internally so much that great fears are entertained that he may not recover. At last accounts he was resting as well as could be hoped, and with every attention, his friends who are numerous all over the country, hope he may get well. Note: he died nine weeks later ***** The top of the next column is cut off and one or two articles are missing. ***** Among the attractions in Hartford the past week has been a very large rattlesnake which was captured by Geo Tyro three miles north of Hartford and sold to McDowell Fair, who placed the reptile in a showcase, where it has attracted much attention. In a savage fight between his snakeship and a large rat which was turned into his prison, blood was drawn on both sides. But the rat soon died. Mr. George Bunger, who now has charge of the rattler, says he is going to train him to stay in his cage during the day and take charge of the streets at night, in which event the boys may be expected to remain in doors after sundown. ***** J. I. Pence was arraigned before Esq. C. L. Woodward at Rockport, last Wednesday with three separate charges of selling liquor in Ohio County stated against him. An examining trial was held in one case and the defendant, by his attorney, waived an examination in the other two cases, and at the close of the trial, the defendant left the court room ostensibly to get bond in the three cases. But instead of returning he went to his place of business and remained until night, when he concluded that he was not in a congenial climate and fled. After the court waited a reasonable time for him to return to the court room and after having him called at the door, the defendant's former bonds amounting in all to $450 were forfeited, and five more writs issued against parties interested with him in the "blind tiger" trade. ***** to be continued.
