I might have been a little too rough with my responses. But this kind of message board banter (er debate) is healthy. This is exactly how facts are uncovered. Just be aware that sometimes one has to make an educated guess or two before letting in the cold hard facts. Let the facts either prove or disprove your educated guess (er theory). Despite what you may think, I LOVE to be proven wrong. (The key word being "proven".) I honestly wish you luck in finding the true parents of Isaac Jackson Goff 1830 - 1915 and the photograph of your grandmother. (Hint for Isaac: Focus on the records of Grayson County, Kentucky.) If you discover something new about Isaac, please share it with the readers of this Ohio County message board. Please, please do prove my theory about your Goff ancestors wrong. I'll be POLITELY waiting. Thanks for the touchups. Take care, Barry Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This one is confusing! Hopefully, together, we can correctly reconstruct this GOFF tribe. Right now, Isaac Jackson Goff, Jr. 1830 - 1915 appears to be the sticking point. Who, exactly, were his parents? Were they Isaac Goff and Polly Reynolds? Or were they William Henry Goff and Polly Green? Or were they Henry Goff and Mary Wilson? Could his (Isaac Jackson Goff 1830 - 1915) death certificate informant have inadvertently given the coroner some wrong information? Hmmm? Fact: A Mr. Isaac Jackson Goff was indeed b. 1847 in Grayson County, KY, son of William Henry Goff 1819 - 1881 and Mary Louisa "Polly" Green. Not sure, but I think this Isaac Goff b. 1847 KY was named after his, grandfather, Isaac Goff, Sr. b. Abt. 1795. Two census records clearly show Isaac Jackson Goff's birth year as 1847 - NOT 1830! [Ref: 1850 Grayson Co Census, page 75, stop 1018 and 1860 Grayson Co Census, page 90, stop 588. See the family of William Goff.] Methinks a few researchers have confused the above Isaac Jackson Goff b. 1847 KY with his uncle - Isaac Jackson Goff b. 1829/30. I think the uncle (Isaac Jackson Goff 1830 - 1915) is the one who married Mary J. Alford and Mary E. Neafus. (See below.) Your thoughts, please? Here's what I have on all these Isaac Goff's. If you sincerely believe my information is dead wrong, please let me know. Of course, I'd like to see your tree version. FYI, I always correct errors. 1 Isaac Goff, Sr. 1795 - ..m. Mary E.
