Hi All! I am new to the list and am looking for info on my gggg gf GIDEON DAVIS born ca 1769 in MD, and his family in Ohio Co. KY. I found Gideon on tax and census records from 1800 thru 1830. Didn't find him in the 1840 census and assume that he died between 1830 & 40. I know that my ggg gf, Philip davis, (one of Gideon's sons) went to MO at about age 15, later married Margaret Logan in MO, and then went to Jackson Co. IL where he died in 1841. Two of Gideon's daus, Harriet and Dorcas married Cox brothers in Ohio Co. and they also went to Jackson Co. I have other children listed as Wesley, Joseph, Bonaparte, and Alfred in addition to the ones mentioned above. Does anyone on the list have a copy of a will or probate documents for Gideon or can anyone tell me if the documents are available. Happy to exchange info with anyone researching this family. Joanne

I am looking for information on a William Knott b.Nov. of 1847 KY. He married Susan Hinton in Ohio Co. on October 21 of 1869. Their children's names are John, Martha, Lucy, James, William and Proctor plus 1 unknown. I know that sometime before 1900 they moved to Daviess Co. I am most intersted in verifying a birthdate for Martha Louise. The KY 1900 and 1910 Census do not agree witht the IL 1920 census. Is there any way to find a birthdate/year since the 1890 census was distroyed in a fire. What is the possiblity of a county birth record or baptismal record pre 1900? I'm looking for more information on Hartford Teacher's College, located on Union Street, Hartford, KY. Lynell was kind enough to verify there WAS a college in Hartford.
