Also, most of the other denominations are represented as well, if you link from the front page of www.sheltom.com. http://www.sheltom.com/sheltom/OhioCountyChurches.html is the direct link to select between SBC churches and other denominations. Brother Tom Shelton spent a lot of time taking pictures and gathering the information for that website, and I assisted him in putting up the site. Much of the information changes each year, and I don't know how active he will be in keeping it current, but it is good as of about May 2006. Sallie Shultz is Amanda's sister. In a book that I have entitled "Matthias Shultz and His Descendants", p. 46, it states "Sally M.,(being the fourth child of Nathaniel Shultz) born about 1858. She never married, but lived with her sister, Amanda. (Amanda was Nathaniel's first child) She had six children, the father of whom is reported to have been Amanda's husband, Joseph Jones. So far as we know, the children took their mother's name of Shultz. Few records are avilable." Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. While he died in 2002, REV. WENDELL HOLMES RONE wrote a number of books one per church, about their history in and around OHIO CO. KY. copies should be in history soc. and or liberys; I remember the last time I was at GREENRIVER CHURCH.. and walked to the back where there was row on row of white stone crosses... and most could not be read.... some years later when I began my research I was in contact with church officers, and I asked about what records there was of the burier's in the back and was told there wasm't any.... realy blew my mind.... ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
I found a reference to "old minutes of Beaver Dam Church" that included a quoted portion of these minutes from 1804. This is what I found: The following is recorded in old Minutes of Beaver Dam Church: "The Church met according to appointment, on the fourth Saturday, April, 1804, and after divine service, proceeded to business. "The Church granted a letter of dismission to Brother Inglebright, then opened the door for the reception of members. Received GEORGE RENDER, ROBERT RENDER, JOSHUA RENDER, John Maddox, Jacob Keel, Mary Shults, Nancy Bays, Polly Atherton, Sarah Leach, Elizabeth Springston and John Atherton by experience." These were duly baptized by the Pastor, Benjamin Tolbert, shortly thereafter." Are these minutes available, and does anyone have them ? Maybe at the library? Does anyone know if this church is still in operation? If we can find this "minute book", it will be a great source of information for Ohio County researchers. Charles A. Leach [email protected]
