Here's a recap of the information presented so far on this board about your target and his descendants. Good luck with your research. 1. AARON VANBUREN1 DAY was born 1837 in Kentucky, and died 1901. He married (1) MARY ANN RALEY 1854 in Ohio County, Kentucky. She was born 1836 in Ohio County, Kentucky. He married (2) RACHEL BRATCHER about 1880. She was born 1836 in Kentucky. Notes for AARON VANBUREN DAY: !Aaron VanBuren Day's parents are unknown. Search Suggestion: If Aaron was counted in the 1840 census, he would have been listed in the UNDER 5 YEARS column - the very first column - of that census. His father might very well be identified by extensively searching DAY surnames of the 1840 census of Kentucky. Be watchful of spelling variations. Children of AARON DAY and MARY RALEY are: i. MARTHA K.2 DAY, was born 1856 in Grayson County, Kentucky, and died 1946. She married WINFIELD SCOTT LIKENS 1873, son of NATHAN LIKENS and EVALINE YOUNG. He was born 1852 in Kentucky. ii. NANCY ROWAN DAY, b. 1859, Kentucky; d. 1860. iii. M. E. DAY, b. 1862, Kentucky. iv. RACHEL P. DAY, b. 1866, Kentucky. v. AARON P. DAY, b. 1867, Kentucky. vi. MARGARET V. DAY, b. 1869, Kentucky. vii. JULIA DAY, b. 1871, Kentucky; m. ? ? GANITE. viii. JOHN B. DAY, b. 1874, Kentucky. Children of AARON DAY and ELIZABETH PIERCE are: ix. MAMIE LULA MAE CUTLIP, 1914, Fayette County, West Virginia; b. 1892, West Virginia. Notes for FINICE LITTLE DAY: !Finice L. Day listed his parents as Aaron V. Day and Elizabeth Ann Pierce on his Social Security Account Application. (Ref: Ancestry.com, Ancestry World Tree Project Database: "Cutlips in America (2007 Edition)" submitted by the Cutlip Family Association, dated 8 May 2007.) x. BENJAMIN DAY, b. 1890, Kentucky. xi. Day (1837 - 1901). No existing CENSUS RECORD have them together as father and son. They should be together in the 1900 census survey, but they are not. And I doubt Finice's mother was Rachel (Bratcher) Goff b. 1836 KY. Rachel would have been 48 years old at the time of his birth. The better mother candidate is Elizabeth Ann Pierce b. Jul 1860 KY. But she would have been only 15 and would have given birth BEFORE getting married to Aaron in 1888. Hmmmm? Get out the DNA swabs! Additionally, the 1900 census for Elizabeth A. (Pierce) Day, says she has 6 LIVING children, but only five of them are recorded with her. Below are the children of Aaron VanBuren Day, as I see it. Barry Ashby 1. Aaron VanBuren Day b. 1837 KY, d. 1901 KY. wife No. 1 Mary Ann Raley b. 1837 KY. (m. 1854). 2. Mary Corilla Day b. 1857 KY. (m. Winfield S. Likens.) 2. M. E. Day b. 1862 KY (female) 1862 KY. 2. Rachel P. Day b. 1866 KY. 2. Aaron P. Day b. 1867 KY. 2. Margaret V. Day, b. 1869 KY. 2. Julia Day, b. 1871 KY. 2. John B. Day, b. 1874 KY. wife No. 2 Rachel Bratcher b. 1836 KY (m. date unknown) Apparently, Rachel had no children with Aaron V. Day. wife No. 3 Elizabeth Ann Pierce b. July 1860 KY (m. 1888) 2. FINICE LITTLE DAY, b. Nov 1884 KY. (m. Mamie Cutlip b. 1893 WV.) Finis MIGHT be an adopted child. 2. Benjamin Day, b. Jun 1890 KY. 2. Tislie A. Day, b. Nov 1891 KY, d. 1892 KY. 2. Luther H. Day, b. April 1893 KY. 2. Eva M. Day, b. Nov 1897 KY. 2. William M. Day, b. Nov 1897 KY. 2. Dessie R. Day, b. Nov 1899 KY. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The census took some time to complete and so, very rarely, people were enumerated twice. Seems he may have been enumerated with wife and kids, then died. She may have moved, thereby being seen again by the census taker and is enumerated as a widow. However, the sets of kids for both entries aren't even close to being a match, so I think this is 2 different Janes. I have extensive info on all the Stewart families of Ohio Co. but it is all packed as I am moving and have no idea where it is. When I can dig it out I will post it for you. It ain't rocket science! Took a look at the 1880 census images (Heritage Quest) for Jane Stewart and then found a William Stewart and noticed the following: (1) It appears to me that Jane's age which is listed in LDS & Heritage Index as 47, just might be 40 or 41. (2) The civil condition column for widowed & divorced is the same. There was a mark in this column for Jane. Perhaps she was divorced and the census taker just put a mark rather than a "D". (3) In the same Rosine precinct (next census page), there is a listing in the household of James H. Stewart for "brother" William Stewart 40 - Ky - Ky - Ky, And there is a mark in the column for widowed/ divorced. Maybe the census taker just put a mark rather than a "D", (4) This William Stewart might not be connected at all. His "brother" James H. Stewart might be a clue to his parents. Further Affiant sayeth not. :-) LRM Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
