I'm having a hard time ignoring those census records and whether Thomas T. Stewart and William T. Stewart is/are the same person. Help! If it isn't too much trouble, could you please post two simple outline descendant trees - one for Missouri Jane English b. 1835 KY and one for William Thomas Stewart b. 1840 KY. (Like the ones below.) These are very easily produced by 1st copying the outline tree from your genealogy software into your word processor and 2nd removing all tabs with the Edit - Find and Replace function. Just remove and replace all tab characters with non-breaking spaces. That's how I created the two trees below. Both were created in under one minute of time. If nothing else, copy these two trees into your word processor, edit them, and copy and paste the edited versions back into your reply. Referring to Karens post and marriage index William Thomas and Jane Allen married Sept 12 1868. Thomas T. Stewart with Missouri Jane as wife is listed in Warren County as Thomas T. Stewart born 1840 and Missouri Jane Williams born 1844. With a child Cynthia Ann Stewart born Warren county July 18 1866. This is possible the Thomas T and Missouri Jane 22 listed in the Ohio County Census. I really appreciate all the replies to my original query. This is what query boards are for. I have never got so much information from a query, keep it coming and we may find who was the first wife of William Thomas Stewart. In the 1870 Thomas T. Stewart household, the first 3 children listed are Granville Allen's children. On John Henry Allen's death certificate it shows dob Jan 25, 1861, dod Oct 24, 1911, parents Granville Allen and Jane English. His wife, Millie, was the informant. I don't know why the head of household is listed as Thomas T. Stewart but I believe this is the man that was married to Granville's widow. The William T. Stewart that also appears in 1870 is the same age as Thomas T. but his wife Missouri is only 22. In 1880 her age is listed as 34. I don't believe she is Jane English. In Warren Co. marriage index there is a William T. Stewart that married M. J. Spinks Dec 28, 1858. Also I found in the 1850 Warren Co. census a male b abt 1840 listed as W. T. Stuart. The head is A. Stuart age 35 (m). Others in the home are M. (f) age 30, L. J. 13 (f), M. E. 12 (f), S. A. 7 (f) and M. 6 (f). This may be the William T. that is in Ohio Co. 1870 and 1880. H. Taylor as her father. She died in childbirth June 12, 1910 at the age of 17. On Wiliiam Harrison Taylor's death certificate J. D. Milburn is the informant. It lists his father as Bob Taylor and mother Eliza Orr. In 1900 Ohio Census Joseph and Mirtie Milburn household there is William Taylor listed as father inlaw. So, Malvina Taylor and William Harrison Taylor are sister and brother. Two of Malvina's sons married 2 of William's daughters. Both men are in the 1870 Ohio Co. census. If you are going to Hartford, check with the courthouse and see if they still have the original marriage docs for William T. and Jane Allen. Check to see if it shows her age. If it does and she is somewhere around 19-21 yrs old, then this is not the Jane that was the widow of Granville Allen. Granville's widow was 10-12 years older than the wife of William T. I say this because, in the 1870 census there is Thomas T. Stewart 30 and wife Jane 34. In that household the oldest daughter is Janetta. I believe this is Janetta Allen, wife of Thomas Allen, daughter of Granville and Jane. Then there is the 1870 household of William T. Stewart 30 and wife Missouri J. 22 (1880 her name is listed as Jane). I think this is the couple that married in 1868. And according to the ages of children Margaret, Cynthia and William, this is William T.'s second marriage. In a later Colorado census Margaret Stewart Coy's birth date is listed as Aug 1861. So there are 2 different Stewart men and 2 different Janes. Also the child of Thomas and Jane Stewart that you have listed as Malipa is actually Malissa. This goes back to the way people of that time wrote names with double s's. The lead s is written as a backwards "f" and the second s sometimes looks like is a "p". I know none of this answers your original query, but if we keeping throwing things out there maybe something will stick.
