Hi Chuck, My Dayton line goes back to Garrett and Mary Ann Dayton, pioneer Kentucky Daytons who arrived @1793, supposedly from Maryland. Their son, William Garrett Dayton, b. in KY in 1794, m. Rebecca Hildreth, dau. of Squire Hildreth and Sarah Standiford, and had 3 sons (Squire Hildreth, William M. and John Robert) and several daughters. My line descends through the eldest son, Squire. Squire and his wife, Armilda McDowell (dau. of Thomas McDowell and Isabel Hooton), had 2 sons and several daughters. The elder son was my great uncle Theb and the younger was my great-grandfather, T.W. ("Dick") Dayton. The families were first in Bourbon and Mason Counties. Later their area became Nicholas County and even later, Robertson County. Squire and his descendants lived in and around the Town of Mt. Olivet. As a side benefit to my research, I've made the e-quaintance of several third cousin descendants. (Hi, Jack, Norma, Vera and Nancy, my Standiford cousin.) None of us, however, has figured out yet where Garrett and Mary Ann Dayton came from. I'd love to have any new information on any branch of Garrett's descendants, and I'm sure my third cousins would as well. Thanks for the assist!
