"My book on Nicholas Co. marriages, 1800-1815 shows a Joseph A. HOPKINS married Margaret MURPHY on 28 Jul 1812 in Nicholas Co, Ky. My book on Nicholas Co, Ky 1810-1840 census shows Joseph A. HOPKINs and family on the 1820 Nicholas Co. census, but they are not shown on the 1810, 1830, or 1840 census. No HOPKINS surnames are in the 1810 Nicholas Co. Census. HOPKINS in 1820 Nicholas Co. census: George W. HOPKINS, Joseph A. HOPKINS, Josiah HOPKINS, Joslin HOPKINS, Robert HOPKINS, William HOPKINS, and another William HOPKINS. HOPKINS in 1830 Nicholas Co. census: Ephraim HOPKINS, Herod HOPKINS, Isaac HOPKINS, Josiah HOPKINS, Joslin HOPKINS, Peter HOPKINS HOPKINS in 1840 Nicholas Co. census: Elizabeth HOPKINS, John HOPKINS, Joslin HOPKINS, Moses HOPKINS These HOPKINS families are probably members of the Bath Co, Ky HOPKINS families. Bath Co. adjoins Nicholas Co. and was formed from Montgomery Co. in 1811. I don't have a copy of the following will, but you could get a copy from the Bath Co. Can't confirm this is your Joseph HOPKINS, but it probably is. Should warn you that many of the Montgomery County records burned. Look for military records.
