    3. Jim, I don't have a copy of the Shelby Co. Cemetery book, so am unable to help you. However, the KYGENWEB - Shelby Co. site has a list of volunteers. Some have the cemetery book and will do look-ups for you. I believe the cemetery book lists the location of each cemetery. Shelby Co, Ky was formed from Jefferson Co, Ky in 1792. The John WHITAKER who died in 1787 would be found in Jefferson Co. records. You should also search Jefferson Co. records for information on your other early ancestors. Kentucky became a state in 1792. From 1776 to 1792, it was known as Kentucky Co, Virginia. The three original counties (Jefferson, Fayette, and Lincoln) were formed in 1780. Jefferson Co. records begin in 1780; Shelby Co. records begin in 1792.
