I have been reading with great interest your articles on Rootsweb. I teach here in Nicholas County at the High School. I have been doing research for over a year now and find it an obsession (so does my family). I plan to retire next year and do this full time if they will let me. I am originally from Flemingsburg the daughter of Garr and Julia Hammond Jackson. The only child I am the only one left on the Jackson side except one first cousin that I have never met. The reason I am writing is I can't find "hide nor hair" of my grandmother Lizzie Jackson Holiday. I have the family bible which mentions a John Holiday b.30 Jan 1840 d. 1921 and grandpa John Holiday Jun 1810 and died 18 Nov 1877. They are not in a census of Fleming County, Nor Mason, Carter, or Bracken. I have found records that indicate that a John Holiday took some children in Nicholas County but it does not state place of residence. If you know anything about this John Holiday, I would appreciate help. I think sometime ( I told my friend this when we were at the Kentucky History Library Wed) that Lizzie was hatched and she is just a figment of someones imagination. Thanks for listening. Sue Jackson Kirby
