Carolyn, Perrin's 'History of Bourbon, Scott, Harrison & Nicholas Counties' lists members of Nicholas Co legal profession in the 1816-1820 era as: R. W. Weber, Angus C. McCoy, Thomas P. Tall, Robert C. Hall, Jonathan M. Tanner, & General A. S. Hughes. Some careful reading might produce more names. It seems the prerequisites for the shingle were the ability to read the English language & to READ the LAW with an established practice for an undetermined time.
