Jacob Eaton first appears on the 1795 "First Census" in Mason County, KY and through 1807. That portion of the county where he lived became a part of Nicholas County when it was formed in 1808. According to a biographical sketch of Jacob's grandson, Rev. Harrison Eaton, published in "History of Shelby County, Missouri, 1911", p. 307, " Jacob Eaton was a native of England, whence he came to America when a young man, becoming an early settler of Kentucky, and later coming to Missouri where he passed the closing years of his life." The biographical sketch of Jacob's grandson, Rev. John Eaton, published in the same history, p. 976, Jacob Eaton immigrated into Kentucky from the State of Tennessee (unproven).
