Linda, I have also been to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Brunker Harney. My great-grandmother, Jane Harney Varner, was Brunker's aunt. Brunker is certainly an interesting person. I spent several hours at his house in May and was so busy listening that I found it hard to take notes. I will probably be visiting him again next month when several members of my family will be spending the weekend in Harrison and Nicholas Counties to do some research together. I don't know a great deal about my Harney line yet. I know that Peter and Catherine Luckey Harney who are buried at Mt. Pleasant were my gg-grandparents. Brunker told me that Peter's father was Thomas Harney, and that Thomas was the son of Hiram Harney. I think Hiram's father was Mills, and another Thomas was the father of Mills. My ggg-gf, Noah Varner, was married to a woman named Sallie Sparks. Their son, Francis Marion, brother of my gg-gf E. N. Varner, was married to Sarah Catharine Harney, daughter of Thomas and Annie Feeback Harney. Amidst charges of adultery and other other ugly stuff, Noah divorced Sallie, Francis divorced Sarah, and Noah ended up married to Sarah. I had quite an interesting afternoon at the state archives the day I discovered that. I haven't had a chance to determine if Sarah's father and Peter's father were the same Thomas Harney, but hope to get to that soon. Based solely on dates, it's possible that Peter and Sarah could have been siblings, but I don' t have any sort of evidence yet. Thomas and Annie were married 08 Dec 1821. Peter was born 09 May 1831. Sarah was born 11 Jun 1836. I'm going to have to do some more digging. I haven't been to Republican Cemetery yet. I have passed the cemetery a few times, but have never stopped. I do have some relatives there, but didn't know that the last time I was in Nicholas County. Hopefully, we can stop by there on next month's trip. If not, I'll have to venture over there another weekend. I live in Scott County, not all that far from Nicholas County. Are you the Linda Harney McDonald who has a web site with lots of Harney information on it? Valarie
