Do you have a family history center close to you?... they would have that information in their catalogue file.... Or you can access it on the internet and check it out. Generally, how was the process during 1870 - 1900 in Montgomery, Nicholas and Clark counties? Where did you find the Declaration of Intent and the Petition for Naturalization? I understand they are filed at two stages in the process. Were they held at each County Seat during this period? My Thomas Blake entered the US in 1865 according to the 1900 Census and was a naturalized citizen. Since a five (5) year waiting period is required, Thomas Blake was living in Carlisle according to the 1870 Census and could have made a petition for naturalization. Afterwards, he moved with the family to Winchester, Clark County and remained their until his death in February 1905. I would appreciate your help so I can petition the correct court(s). Of course, your advice is valued. Thanks in advance. Ed. C.
