    3. Hello list....I am researching the John Saylor/Sailor family. I believe they lived in Nicolas County in 1810 and he perhaps died there sometime soon after the census. He is on the 1810 census. He is not listed in the 1820. Nor does it appear that this same Sailor/Saylor family is in Montgomery or Bath counties for 1820. Is there a death index for the early 1800's? Is there a will index for this time? If he had minor children and a male guardian was appointed how would one locate such records? One daughter married in 1811 and her guardian was John Minear with mother Elizabeth Sailor listed. It is also possible that there were two small girls in this family and after the mother died they went to live with a family by the name of Brown. Does anyone know of a Brown family living in Nicolas County during this time. If the girls used Sailor-Brown as their name at a later time would this have gone through the courts? The names are Cassie Sailor Brown, and Elizabeth A. Sailor Brown. The John Saylor families....sons and grandsons lived in near by Montgomery and Bath Counties from about 1800 through 1830. I have had these counties searched with very little results. I am hoping that Nicholas County will hold the records I need for this family. Any help, suggestions, ideas will be most appreciated. Thank you in advance. Peggy pegle@ipa.net

    3. Hi Wanda, You asked about the Wiggins family and I have only been chasing them for about a year. I don't have very much information to pass on to you. Have you been to Jon Hagee's page at http://www.webpub.com/~jhagee/ ? He has several Wiggins in his family tree. There are 3 Wiggins families mentioned in the 1850 Nicholas Co Census (see the URL at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/nicholas/toc.html ). There are other Wiggins families mentioned in the previous years census (also obtained from the same URL). As for what I have, my Wiggins family passes through Robertson County. What I have is the following: Generation No. 1 1. JAMES ABNER1 WIGGINS was born in NC. He married DELILA HARRELL Abt. 1831 in NC. She was born in NC. Child of JAMES WIGGINS and DELILA HARRELL is: 2. i. MADISON2 WIGGINS. Generation No. 2 2. MADISON2 WIGGINS (JAMES ABNER1) He married ALETHA EALS. Children of MADISON WIGGINS and ALETHA EALS are: i. UNKNOWN3 WIGGINS, b. March 14, 1859, Harrison Co, KY; d. March 14, 1859, Harrison Co, KY. ii. LIDDIE WIGGINS, b. October 01, 1866; d. December 12, 1928, Mt. Olivet, Robertson Co, KY; m. CHARLES ROBERT FRENCH, December 16, 1887, Robertson Co, KY; b. August 25, 1858, Harrison Co, KY; d. July 01, 1939, Brooksville, Bracken Co, KY. iii. MARY JANE WIGGINS, b. July 25, 1862, KY; d. September 06, 1934, Robertson Co, KY; m. JEFFERSON DAVIS GARRISON; b. Abt. 1862; d. Abt. 1945. note: Madison Wiggins is also known as Mak and E.M. Wiggins. - ---------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know if any of the above names are related to you, but if they are I would love to be on the receiving end of some more info. 2. Kim Woodward
    3. (Note: This message is being sent to both the KYBRACKE-L and KYNICHOL-L lists) Hi All, I'm searching for one of the MCDOWELL family lines in Bracken and Nicholas Counties. I've been doing a little tree hunting on one of my gg-grandmothers, Isabelle (McDowell) WOODWARD and I have found what I believe to be evidence that her family moved from Nicholas to Bracken County sometime in the 1840 to 1850 time frame. I have been told the following family occurs in the 1860 Bracken Co Census (Augusta, eastern district): John W (or M) MCDOWELL, age 45 Malinda (or Melissa), age 45 Isabella, age 18 Lucretia, age 16 Eliza J., age 14 Samuel L., age 12 Thomas L., age 10 Ruth A., age 8 At this same address was a John GARRISON, a farm laborer, who later married Lucretia MCDOWELL. The LDS Ancestral File lists this same family, and indicates that this Isabella is Mary Isabella. This corresponds to the name on a death certificate that I have of Mary I. Woodward listing the same parents. I have found this same family in the 1850 Bracken Co Census, but under the name of MCDONALL!! Mary I. Woodward's death certificate states that she was born in Nicholas County in September 1840. I do not have access to an 1840 Bracken Co Census but there is a John MCDOWELL listed in Nicholas County with two individuals, one male and one female, both in the age range of 20 to 30. So I will step out on a limb with this one and say that they are probably the same family. Does anyone know about this family or where they came from? The census lists both parents, John M. MCDOWELL (1815-1889) and Melissa INSKO (1819-1865), as being born in Kentucky and I would be willing to bet that at least John M. McDowell was born in Nicholas Co. 3. David, I misunderstood your posting to some extent. Thought you just wanted "commercial" research. Like most of the people on list, I'm researching my own group of surnames, but am willing to share. Especially true of families that have been in one area for a couple of centuries, as mine were in Nicholas County, one finds himself related to more families than can ever be researched properly....so will gladly share that peripheral info. Can you be more specific with your needs? The surnames you note have abundant occurrences in Nicholas County documents! 3. David, Thanks, David. By the way, I have another lead for you in your need for a researcher. The last time I was in Kentucky, I ran across a lady by the name of Barbara O'Nan. She helped find some data for me and gave me her business card. She does research for folks like you and me. Her Compuserve e-mail address is: 102422.2221@compuserve.com She has another e-mail address that is hand-written on her card, but it is difficult to read. It looks like: bonan@ix.netcom.com The "ix" might be capitalized. 3. Bob, I think you misunderstood my last email. I am willing to share my family history, to this point, with you on your project as well as offer my services to those involved. I also volunteer as public relations director for the Immigrant Ship Transcribers Guild and would be willing to share my knowledge of immigrant ships and passenger lists on the internet with those working on the project to further their knowledge of their ancestors migration to America. I answer approximately 50-100 email queries per day on passenger lists and immigrant arrivals. Thank you for speaking to Peggy Warth and I will look forward to hearing from her. I appreciate you taking the time to help me further my research. Again, thank you for your kindness and helpfulness, and it is greatly appreciated. David Anderson
