    3. Kris, I looked up Samuel Hamilton in the Nicholas Co. KY deed index and Book of Wills for 1800 - 1839 and found only the following notations: in 1821 property was transferred from Samuel Hamilton to William Potts (Deed is in Deed Book F page 21) a Sale Bill for the estate of Samuel Hamilton deceased was recorded 9 Feb 1827 - everything was purchased by William Hamilton. I know its not much, but hope it helps. RoseAnne Holladay (researching the Nicholas County line of William & Fanny (Ammon) Holladay and son Lewis P. Holladay (b. 1815)

    2. The Holladays
    3. Sid, I finally got back to the LDS center and did the lookup you requested. While there was no will recorded for David Grimes, I did find the following info: The estate of David Grimes was inventoried 11 Mar 1830 with an addendum in July of 1830 (I know this date is 2 years too early according to your records - perhaps this is his son or your info is in error) The administrators of the estate were Thomas Clark and Hezekiah Vanschorack (or something like that.) There was also a will for George Grimes dated 15 Aug 1832 that basically requested the destruction of an agreement between him and his deceased father and requested that he instead be treated as an equal heir with the rest of his father's heirs. (no mention of father's name) Also the following will for Elizabeth Grimes dated 23 Nov 1830 and proved Dec 1830: - to my mother all land coming from my fathers estate to me, to her that is my dear mother Anna Marget Grimes - to sister Susanah Bunton... - to sister Polly Clark... - to sister Sally Fincher (sp?)... - to Mary Ann Alexander (no relationship stated) - to Marget Ann Bronton (sp?) (no relationship stated) - to Elizabeth Jane Bunton (no relationship stated) - to Sally Grimes Bunton (no relationship stated) - to Mary Ann Fincher (no relationship stated) - to Nancy Fincher (no relationship stated) - to brother George Grimes' daughter Amelda Grimes - to brother David Grimes' daughter Nancy Ann Grimes Executor - James Boardman In the index for Deeds were the following transactions: 1834 Commissioners (of Nicholas Co.) to Nancy Grimes Book K p. 308 1825 John Fowler to Christian Grimes Book G p. 85 1825 John Fowler to George Grimes Book G p. 84 In the case of John Archer: Will of John Archer written 17 OCt 1815 and proved May 1820: - all debts paid out of money in Mr. Alexander Blairs hands an if not enough - use "money coming to my son John Archer deceased due him for services done on the Wabash." - to my beloved wife Elizabeth and her daughter Bettey... - to daughter Rabecah Hamilton.... - to daughter Mary Moore... - to daughter Nancy Waugh.... - to daughter Darky Paxton... - to daughter Ester Moore.... - to son Sampson Archer... and his son Franklin Archer.. - to daughter Elizabeth Archer - to deceased daughter Sally's son Archer Jacky Potts Executors - Samuel M. Waugh and Robert Paxton Witnesses - David Byers, James Hudelson, Moses Hale In Nicholas Co. Deed index: 1813 Jesses Baskett to John Archer Book C p411 1815 John Fowler to John Archer Book D p233 1815 John Archer (with a notation that may be "son") to John Archer, Jr Book D p160 (i'm not sure of the "0" ) 1815 John Archer to Samuel Waugh Book D p314 1815 John Archer to Robert Paxton Book D p422 1815 John Archer to James McCormick Book D p427 1816 John Archer to Sampson Archer Book D p445 There were other Archer transactions (e.g. more SAmpson Archer to others) Obviously there were at least 2 John Archers - father and son - and the son seems to have predeceased the father. I don't know which is the John Archer you were looking for. Hope some of this helps!! RoseAnne Holladay (researching the Nicholas County line of William & Fanny (Ammon) Holladay and son Lewis P. 3. Hi, My name is Kris Goszka, I am new to the list and, as per Jeannie's invitation, I am posting my query to the list. I am searching for my HAMILTON line (see below for the early part of the line). I have them back to my 3rd great-grandfather, Samuel Luther Hamilton born 1818 in KY (probably Nicholas Co, KY). Samuel's wife, Mary Grant EWARD was born in Nicholas Co, & they were married in Nicholas Co. It is possible that Samuel went by the name Luther, and that he was a minister. It is also possible that Samuel's parents are Samuel Hamilton & Jane SWINNEY, but I seem to have hit a brick wall beyond that. Any and all help would be welcomed. Last week I found a court document in which John H. sued Susan for divorce after only three months of marriage. He accused her of being pregnant by another man when they married and of committing adultery after they married. They evidently did not divorce, because they had 3 children, including the daughter born in 1877. I believe Susan died between 1884 and 1885. Do you see any connection to your McGinness family? 3. Tonya, I have a Susan McGinnis, daughter of Milton McGinnis and Susan Delay, who married John H. Smith in 1877 in Fleming Co. John H. was the brother of my great-grandfather, Benjamin Ross Smith. 3. My name is Tonya Gauthier-Kellum, my mother and I have been researching her family line of McGinnis (variations) for some time now and have gotten back to Kentucky and Pennsylvania And Deleware and those are the areas we are researching now. I have already sent in my query but didn't introduce myself. I hope to find a connection here and hope to be able to help others out as well. Thank you very much Tonya ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "There is no limit to stupidity. Space itself is said to be bounded by its own curvature, but stupidity continues beyond infinity." - Gene Wolf
