I would like to know how to contact someone who can grant permission for me to visit Bethlehem Cemetery. I believe my ggg-grandfather, Noah VARNER, and his second wife, Sarah Catharine HARNEY, are buried there and would like to visit the cemetery to look for their graves. I believe I found the driveway to the cemetery a few weeks ago, but there was a chain across the drive. Any help with gaining access to the cemetery would be most appreciated. Thanks, Valarie

Thanks, Chck. I made a note on my copy. Kay
Hello everyone - Have been going around in circles for a long time - hope someone can help me! Have been to Ky. a few times with never enough time to do justice for researching. My earliest relative who was in Paris, Bourbon County early. I found copy of his will in Paris which was dated November 1810 and probated in December 1810 - In this will he mentions George, Thomas, Polly C., Peggy and Susan then at the last gives John $l.00. I've been told this was common practice when a child had already left home and been given his share of the inheritance. Any comments on that? My direct line comes down from Thomas Gorham Burnau - tho this name was spelled yet a different way - Bournaugh - in the margin of the book it was spelled Burnoe - I'm sure many of you have the same problem. Anyway I have never found where George and his wife, Francis are buried - I found Polly C who married a Col. Hamilton in the cemetery in Carlisle - there are some Burnaw's there - but I feel sure this is one and the same family. Let me hear from anyone who is researching any of these persons. Thanks, Virginia Burnau Callaway -----Original Message----- From: Jean Dalrymple <motherd@theriver.com> To: KYNICHOL-L@rootsweb.com <KYNICHOL-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, September 09, 1999 11:16 AM Subject: [KYNICHOL] FW: subscribe > > > >> Good afternoon and welcome to the Nicholas and the Robertson county lists. >> Please submit your query and introduce yourself to the list... >> >> I am Jeannie and I am the list mother.... >> >> Have a great day... Hi! Does anyone know if the courthouse in Carlisle is open on Saturdays? Are the marriages kept at the courthouse? Thanks for your help! Joanna kimjo@ccrtc.com
Joanna, I have made several trips there. The cort house is open, I think, til 2PM. However, a good deal of the microfilms and other info is across the street at their library. Census, marriage bonds, deeds, and microfilms of the county paper, also. Kay
your file locked me up.
Denell, We've talked before about the Holladays, but I have found a very little information since then. I do have a list of all the deed transfers which involved the Holladay clan in Nicholas Co. All of them seem to be offspring of William and one of his wives. The list of transfers is very long - more than one hundred transfers. SOme day I might get them entered into the computer, in which case I will post them. Otherwise, I would advise going to your local Family History Center and ordering the index of deeds. There is a much shorter list of Ammon deed transfers 1810 Ammon, Thomas to Arnett, Samuel book C? page 440 1819 Ammons, Nerris (or Harris?) to Barnett, Ambrose Book E page 294 Thomas Ammon may be the father of Fannie. There was also a land transfer from William Holladay to William P. Robinson in 1830 (Deed book I page 80) which maybe why Wm Holladay only left Wm Robinson one dollar in his will. >From what I can find Wm Holladay's parentage is a subject for much debate. He is supposedly from VA. RoseAnne
Thanks.... To late now I have already sent that one in but if you have the information in the future it will tell other researchers where to find it.... on the marriages just the n. co m reg was enough... Kay I started this over 40 years ago and I am still learning.... Of course back then if you knew that an ancestor was from say, Kansas then you wrote to EVERY county in Kansas to the county clerk and ask for a copy of birth marriage or what ever... If you were lucky enough to find what ever then you would pay 5.00 for a copy (and 300.00 a month was good wages then) which faded out in a few years to where you would be lucky to read it.. there was no Family History Centers to go to and the only Genealogy libry was a very small room in the basement of the temple of the LDS in Salt Lake City. They had quite a few books and 3 readers.... And only about 3 film :) .. I spend 3/4 of my time trying to find the proofs of the information that others send me.... I am constantly correcting my information as I locate the original documation. I think that it is a never ending cycle :0 but I do get excited when I locate a will or bible record from 300 years ago that gives that wee bit of proof that I need. Jeannie, That was certainly worth reading. I began my search last Jan. and have learned so much! In fact, I have learned enough to know that I still have A LOT TO LEARN! However, I have been blessed with a dear friend who is an experienced genealogist who is editing my data and putting it on a "floppy disk(?)" for me. He gently makes suggestions on where to search and gently chastises me if I forget to do something I should have known better. His help is priceless as well as his friendship. I would not be anywhere as far along in my endeavor without his guidance. Many have also kindly helped on the internet, but I do go back and get my own "proof". The thrill is there each time you make a "find". The time and energy you, and other list managers put in to this task should not be ignored either. I am truly blessed by having two great sources of help and information. Kay
Thanks Kay.... Do appreciate this.... And have sent to KY-FOOTSTEPS... by the way.. if any one wants to contribute to the list or KY-FOOTSTEPS it would be great...... tho with KY footsteps it is NOT a Query list.. ONLY births, marriages deaths wills etc..... to subscribe to that list send e-mail to KY-FOOTSTEPS-L-request@rootsweb.com or if you want to post your documentation's to this list and then I can forward to KFS for you.. Hello again, Just William's will. Thanks so much for publishing this will. I am descended from William P Robinson. I have quite a bit of information on him. Thanks again, Denell Burks
Hello, I am descended from Clarissa Holladay whose parents I think are William Holladay and Fannie Ammon. I have very little info on them. Can you help me? Thanks in advance, Denell Burks
Can somebody tell me which county (Bourbon or Mason) the Blue Licks area was part of before Nicholas was formed? I am researching the Holladays and Ammons who were in Blue Licks around 1800 and maybe earlier.
