I am forwarding this on to the list.... Perhaps that "elderly Man that knows so much" (is she speaking of you Chuck?) would ans her. Please submit your ans to the list as then we can all change the cemetery records to include A.J. or any one with a name that starts with A. or J. King. I have two separate lists and he is not on either one.. I have also checked the Robertson Co book and he is not there either..... will read thru each cem listing in the Nicholas co History and see if I can find him in there... Do wish that some one in the know there in Carlisle would pass the word to please index the cemetery listings the next time they republish that book... Have a great day every one... This is a good twist on the normal female type blond joke.... Have a great week every one.... Jeannie <>< ------------------------- Three blond men are stranded on one side of a wide river, and don't know how to get across. The first man prays to God to make him smart enough to figure out how to cross the river, so God turns him into a brown-haired man and he swims across. The second man prays to God to make him even smarter, so God turns him into a dark-haired man and he builds a boat and rows across. Then the third man prays to God to make him the smartest of all, so God turns him into a woman and he walks across the bridge. Grace and Grins,

This is not only interesting but may be of some help for some of us looking for a lady or ancestor that has had an unknown name change..... As you will see that some of the children in a divorce assumed his/her mothers MAIDEN name....... This is new knowledge for me... Jeannie <>< -----Original Message----- From: shirleyreynolds [mailto:southern@lcc.net] Sent: Sunday, October 31, 1999 9:16 AM To: KY-FOOTSTEPS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYF] Kentucky Divorces The only way to get a divorce in the State of Kentucky before the year 1809 was by an act of the state legislature. In January of 1809 the circuit courts were given authority to grant divorces. Some of these records come from a list of made by a gentleman named Glenn Cliff while he was working at the Kentucky Historical Society in the 1950's. This list of divorces was printed in the magazine "Bluegrass Roots" published by the Kentucky Genealogical Society beginning in the Spring of 1980. Some of these records I found while searching through the individual counties in the circuit court clerk's records and some are from reports of the Kentucky State Legislature. Adair, John v Dicy Adair Granted Feb 27, 1849 Curry, Amanda F. v Robert W. Mosley Granted Dec 10, 1822 Jones, John (Trigg Co.) v Friney Jones Granted Feb 28, 1849 His marriage to Martha Jewell legalized. Jones, Elizabeth v Husband not named Granted Jan 22, 1798 "This act authorizes Elizabeth Jones to be divorced from her husband if he shall be found by a jury to have deserted her and lived in open adultery with another woman in any state except Kentucky." I can't help it folks - I laughed so hard when I read this one. Sounds like as long as Mr. Jones confined his adulteries to the State of Kentucky he was safe. Jones, Emily E. v William Jones Granted Jan 5, 1837 Lamaster, Catharine (Shelby Co.) v Irvin Lamaster Granted Feb 29, 1849 Restored to her maiden name Catharine Miles. Her child's name also changed to Miles. Skeeters, Amanda v William R. Skeeters Granted Mar 3, 1842 Restored to her maiden name Amanda Fryrear. Noel, Adella v Robert Noel Granted Feb 28, 1842 Norton, William v Harriet Norton Granted Feb 28, 1849 Adams, Elizabeth v William Adams Granted Dec 9,1799 Alford, Fielding v Sally Alford Granted Dec 9, 1821 Smoot, Memory v John Smoot Granted Mar 4, 1843 Restored to her maiden name Memory Razor Stamper, Richard v Rebecca Stamper Granted Feb 28, 1848 Roberts, Eliza Jane v Oscar Roberts Granted Jan 24, 1845 Restored to her maiden name Eliza Jane Chenoweth. Wheeler, Harriet J. v Green H. Wheeler Granted Feb 12, 1849 Her marriage to David Wade legalized. Ferguson, Kitty v James Ferguson Granted Nov 26, 1831 He was restored to rights of a single man by Act of Legislature. Floyd, Matilda v William S. Floyd Granted Feb 12, 1838 She was restored to name Matilda A. Harrington. He was restored to all rights and privileges of an unmarried man by Act of Legislature. His marriage to Margaret Green of Boone Co. legalized. Caycraft, Keziah v William Caycraft Granted Jan 17,1839 Restored to her maiden name Keziah Ratliffe. Hall, Sereny v John B. Hall Granted Feb 16,1841 Restored to her maiden name Sereny Miller. Hazel, Sarah v William Hazel Granted Mar 1, 1848 Restored to her maiden name Sarah Johnson, name of child Anna Hazel changed to Anna Johnson. Some of these records do have grounds for the divorce - desertion, cruelty, adultery, abandoment, unchaste behavior, etc. In the interest of propriety and so as not to embarress anyone I did not include them. ==== KY-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== Remember... no queries allowed on this list. I am researching the following names:BRADSHAW, ALISON
A man was walking home alone late one night when he hears a BUMP...BUMP....BUMP.....behind him. Walking faster he looks back, and makes out the image of an upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street towards him....BUMP.....BUMP......BUMP..... Terrified, the man begins to run towards his home, the casket bouncing quickly behind him...faster....faster.... BUMP....BUMP.....BUMP....... He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams and locks the door behind him. However, the casket crashes through his door, with its lid clapping.....clappity-BUMP ....... clappity-BUMP .......clappity-BUMP..... on the heels of the terrified man. Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, the man locks himself in. His heart is pounding, his head is reeling, his breath is coming in sobbing gasps. With a loud CRASH the casket breaks down the door, bumping and clapping towards him. The man screams and reaches for something- anything-but all he can find is a box of cough drops!! Desperate, he throws the cough drops at the casket......... and of course.............. >the coffin stops!!!!!
Hi every one.... rec'd this on another list and thought that I would pass it on. Jeannie <>< Subject: [MSSTONE-L] Map/Cemeteries Hi to all, This is to let you know about a great C.D. that I found at Wal-Mart for $9.96. On this map you will be able to locate Cemeteries. You will need to zoom in close to an area, when you see two crosses, that is a cemetery, one cross is a church, click on the crosses and it gives you the name of the cemetery and as it is a map c.d., your directions are also here on this c.d. for you. This is a great C.D. for researchers even though it is not identified as such...It comes in a C.D. case, no big box. The name of the C.D. is: "Travel Maps USA" it is by Cosmi. It is for Windows 95 & higher. Good luck in your search.
